that is great @CharlesV

can it be set not to loop? just run through almost like the image set is a progress bar?

Thanks!

I havent found a loop or repeat in any of the docs I have seen . Basically I have found progress bar or spinners, but nothing obvious to 'stop it' .

I will do a deeper dive and see what I can find. The hardest thing I can see currently is how to time the graphic properly to account for slow to fast systems. (but again, I have only just started playing :-) )

So it looks like I can use the original plymouth charge theme and make that happen. I have another attempt here... I need to work on the timing and sequencing as its too choppy on the second half.. but not half bad... I might be able to stretch it out a little longer, but it is right on the top of my boot.

The instability seems to be caused by 60fps. 30fps seems stable.

Please let me know the best color code for the background.

@Freja that is an amazing graphic and I do NOT want to compromise it! And while you may be correct on the fps, let me play a little with plymouth and see if I can meet your design. (This is my second attempt to work with plymouth, so not going to claim I am experienced with it ;-) )

60 might be a little fast for some machines too. we got a wide base of machines in use.

(1 hour lunch break)

It’s no need to rush.
Because I'm still only showing the logo part of the new boot sequence.

You can work on the details only after you see the overall picture. (The overall picture probably has some impact.)

Tomorrow JST Wednesday is my day off from work, so I'll hurry up and make a new boot sequence video.

(Assume what is possible with current technology and assemble it.)

The experience of "I was already on the desktop before I knew it".

For Preview

View in Full HD video (Youtube, "Not listing" setting)

note: Due to a setting mistake,
the preview is double speed, but Youtube is the same speed.

This video is "for explain".

A simulated video production of the boot sequence finished earlier than expected.
Such a boot should be nearly feasible using existing technology. maybe.

This is a model that focuses on how smoothly the transition from power-on to the desktop is achieved.

This was my finishing point last night. Its 30fps and does seem to be the smoothest. While not exactly what you have for a boot, this is pretty close I think. (and this is a real boot config, plymouth scripting in a VM. )
