MX Boot Animation at testing

#1 Post by Freja »

Image

Other distribution often using boot animation,
I created MX's one by test. (This is low resolution gif animation,
I have master very high resolution data.)
I realized the movement I had in mind when creating that logo.

(I want to this post to "User contributed splash themes",
but that theard is locked, I had no choice but to leave new topic.)

It's 3seconds. (60frames per seconds).

It's scary for me to be judge by anyone at any time,
but I'm going to post while thinking that I'm scared. I will don't speak much.
(I'm always more freaked out than people think...)

I like it.

I also like the idea of having a consistent theme from booting to desktop (I talked about this many times), our system always looked like it had things picked up from different parts -- Grub menu would have one image/them, boot splash would be totally different, wallpaper different... not only different, but also totally different style, it would be good to have consistency, have the same elements tied together at least by a theme.

Thank you so much.

None, it's still a video-based prototype. Actual Splash theming requires cooperating me with person can create splash themes.

Creating a splash theme is easy if can embed an animation-gif in splash theme.

(Unfortunately, I don't have any knowledge about splash theme.)

Now about 0 o’clock JST. I’m going sleep (tomorrow is working, sorry. I’ll check thread in after tomorrow work.)

its a great concept, but we would need someone that can do up a custom plymouth theme.

I got up to go to the bathroom.
Oh my God. Thanks again.
(My head feels dizzy.)

...but (not bluffing), this is a beginning.

I have already devised a new boot sequence vision in my head.
I'm planning to make it with a video-based prototype from now on. Today’s animation is “a part” of the new boot sequence.

Give me for about 2,3days.

As Adrian says,
The new boot sequence is "perfectly consistent from power-on to the end of boot".
I will try to make it into a real shape video.

That's neat! I like it.

For me it can be a bit slower.. load once, done.

Playing around with Freja's awesome graphic... I found that plymouth would need animation frames (png's) and then an automated set to display it.

Having a little fun, I found that approx 60 seconds was all I had to play this on my startup. I had to clip a bunch off the start, and it would be longer on a slower system obviously, but here is a quick and dirty view of it in plymouth. (and please forgive the roughness of this! )
