Re: Unofficial respin Cinnamon Desktop is updated and released
Very nice. MX Linux with Cinnamon instead of XFCE. 1.4 GB ISO. If I do MX Cinnamon, then I would do this one rather than my CinnaMX respin. I would need to rebuild my theme, of course, but the Cinnamon settings function better on this one. With that, you pretty much killed my CinnaMX respin project. (hee hee) Suggestion: Replace Galculator with GNOME Calculator and ROX Terminal with GNOME or Tilix Terminal. They will look better.
REQUEST: Is it possible for you to make a Budgie respin? Thanks.

Joseph DeGarmo, thank you for your posting.
GNOME terminal is already installed. too. As for Roxterm, it has automatically included during installation process, due to dependency.
As you requested, it maybe possible to release Budgie Desktop edition soon.
To tell the truth, I could not enable desktop icons on Budgie until now, but I just found a way to solve it.
Best regards.
P.S.
I uploaded a Budgie re-spin on the internet.
Please see the related posting of https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php?p=701713

You can see the details of this updates at history.log files of the following page:
https://github.com/usergreen/mx-respin- ... e-20221221
Updates are mainly security fixes provided by Debian as 11.6 point release, and also updates of MX Tools with their translation.
But Cinnamon Desktop itself had no updates.

From the debian repository, because cinnamon never has any updates. In my case I added to my respin the repositories of linuxmint LMDE5 which is based on bullseye. So I have the latest version of cinnamon and also the latest version of mint-update which is flatpak compatible.user-green wrote: Sun Dec 25, 2022 5:32 am You can see the details of this updates at history.log files of the following page:

Therefore, if we want to use mxLinux with cinnamon we don't have to stay with a version of cinnamon that is already a bit obsolete. Of course, hopefully the latest versions of cinnamon will be added to the mxlinux repository.
Here is how I did it: https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php ... 03#p703403

Re: Unofficial respin Cinnamon Desktop is updated
Thank you, Juan_David95
I know that many users want to use the latest version of Cinnamon 5.6 Desktop.
But I consider it important for Desktop to be stable and reliable rather than to be the newest. I do not prefer to mix repositories outside of MX and Debian. MX relies on security fixes mainly on Debian.
Cinnamon 5.6 is expected to be shipped on Debian 12, which will be released 6 months later. So, I'm going to release re-spin for Cinnamon 5.6 version then.
I thank you for your advice. Perhaps, someone who wants the latest Cinnamon Desktop might customized his computers by himself with your support of your comment above.
Best regards.

Re: Unofficial respin Cinnamon Desktop is updated
Well, of course it is up to each user which version to use. But from my own experience I can affirm: that a software version, because it is old, does not always make it "stable" (I think this is the philosophy of Debian); or being updated does not make it "unstable". You just have to test, and the test result is what determines if it is "stable" or if it has failures.user-green wrote: Thu Dec 29, 2022 6:58 am But I consider it important for Desktop to be stable and reliable rather than to be the newest. For example with Cinnamon 4.8.6, it is supposed to be the stable version that the debian repositories have, but when you use sticky (an app similar to windows notes) and use the show desktop applet, app restore stops working with left click on the taskbar: A crash caused by sticky losing focus. This has been fixed in later versions of cinnamon. This was what led me to look to upgrade.
It's a lottery, more updated versions can add new features and fix bugs and vulnerabilities or they can simply spill over and damage what was already well done.
In my case, thank God, the cinnamon 5.4.12 version of the LMDE5 repositories worked perfectly and the same, as well as the latest cinnamon 5.6.
