I tried to open a Reaper project from within Thunar - project_001.RPP file.
Default it opens with Mousepad.
So i tried to change this with open with Other Application
I choose for Reaper 6 Linux and give it OK
But instead of staying on my new choise, it falls back on Mousepad
Even when i do - open with Other Application - and - Use a custom command - /opt/REAPER-6/reaper or /home/crojav/Music/REAPER/reaper
In both situation in will not accept and stay's on Mousepad.
It occurs on both of our AvLinux computers

There is no checkbox "Use as default for this kind of app"
Or is there a othere place where you make that happen?
Re: AvLinux FileProperties Other Application Not Working
Code: Select all
~/.config/mimeapps.list
Code: Select all
/usr/share/applications
Re: AvLinux FileProperties Other Application Not Working
Here is what i edit in that file:
[Default Applications]
video/mp4=vlc.desktop
video/webm=vlc.desktop
video/x-matroska=vlc.desktop
image/png=ristretto.desktop
audio/RPP=reaper.desktop
audio/x-wav=vlc.desktop
application/pdf=qpdfview.desktop
audio/RPP=reaper.desktop
[Added Associations]
video/mp4=vlc.desktop;
video/webm=vlc.desktop;
video/x-matroska=vlc.desktop;
image/png=ristretto.desktop;
application/x-ms-dos-executable=wine.desktop;
application/xml=mousepad.desktop;
image/x-nikon-nef=shotwell-viewer.desktop;krita_raw.desktop;
image/jpeg=org.inkscape.Inkscape.desktop;
text/html=firefox.desktop;
audio/x-wav=vlc.desktop;
application/pdf=qpdfview.desktop;
audio/RPP=reaper.desktop;
text/plain=reaper.desktop; <<< IT AUTO PLACE THIS AFTER A REBOOT
After editing and a reboot it replaced the changes i made with a default text/plain/=reaper.desktop -
I see this as a bug inb AvLinux - it has to open the files associated with there programs especialy the music related files.
Or is this related to OpenBox ( which by the way is creepy - and I would not like to see that in AvLinux ) ? https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php ... 14#p705514
Re: AvLinux FileProperties Other Application Not Working
Hi,
Reaper has only been native to Linux for a very short time, not everything can be made into a mimetype and necessarily be recognized. I don't think this is a bug, plus a Reaper project file is not an 'Audio' file, it is a proprietary project file that Reaper uses to keep track of where the Audio/MIDI is and what settings and Plugins you used etc.. so associating it with an Audio mimetype will not work. Why not just open Reaper and navigate to your file?
Openbox is simply a menu and Window Manager, you don't have to like it but it has no place in this discussion.

Re: AvLinux FileProperties Other Application Not Working
Yes that is a reasonable information. On one of my other Linux computers (Linux Mint) - which has no problem with the mimetype, it associate a .RPP with Reaper. So that was more or less why I wonder why AV Linux could not do that to. And yes open Reaper and navigate to the file, or in the MediaExplorer in Reaper you can find your project RPP files and open them directly.AVLinux wrote: Tue Dec 13, 2022 8:50 pm Hi,

Thanks for your support and share and give us the oppertunity to work with a outstanding Linux Audio Work Station - AV Linux! I remember working with it about 10 years ago and it was rock solid.
