MXL21.2.1 black screen on old Acer aspire 5552 laptop. [Solved]

Hello.
I recently scavenged back from the dead an old Acer laptop.
My idea was to install MXL on it, as I've done in the past with a Samsung RV511.

Key details:
Bootable USB created using Rufus 3.20.1929
MXL 21.2.1
Laptop: Acer Aspire 5552 with AMD Phenom II X3

The problem I'm having is that I get a black screen, I am able to boot from the USB drive I'm using, I see the "splash screen" but then when I try to load the LIVE env it basically shows a black screen and nothing happens.

OK.
I FOUND THE ISSUE.
Syslinux is not compatible with this device.
I used the "GRUB" loader option on the menu and booted through that, and it worked.

Simply using the "Grub" bootloader solved my issue.

can someone help walk me through how to adjust this setting on my platform im having the same issue and brand new to mx linux
