Then we need to celebrate this:

Don't ever say you don't have this in that beautiful and big music library:

I do have some Johnny Cash but not that one.
I am more classic rock than Country.

Ok I put the lightdm.conf file that I kept and the problem reappeared.

This section in the file has some items active as shown below.

I am going to comment lines out to see what one is causing the issue.

Code: Select all

[SeatDefaults]
#type=xlocal
xserver-command=X -dpi $DPI
#xserver-layout=
#xserver-config=
xserver-allow-tcp=false
#xdmcp-manager=
#xdmcp-port=177
#xdmcp-key=
greeter-session=lightdm-webkit2-greeter
#greeter-hide-users=true
#greeter-allow-guest=true
#greeter-show-manual-login=false
#greeter-show-remote-login=true
#user-session=default
#allow-guest=true
#guest-session=UNIMPLEMENTED
session-wrapper=/etc/X11/Xsession
display-setup-script=/usr/local/bin/early-bg
#greeter-setup-script=
#session-setup-script=
#session-cleanup-script=
#autologin-guest=false
#autologin-user=dcihon
autologin-user-timeout=0
#autologin-session=UNIMPLEMENTED
#exit-on-failure=false

Ok I commented out this line and the problem goes away.
I don't watch updates that closely.
Has this greeter changed recently or how do I check that?

Do any of you use this greeter?

Code: Select all

greeter-session=lightdm-webkit2-greeter

so I did some research on this lightdm-webkit2-greeter

I kind of remember installing this at some point and it had been working just fine so I kept it.

It looks like this project has been abandoned.

I will stop using this.

Sorry everyone for trying to help when all along it had nothing to do with original MX.

There is indeed a bug in the current webkit2gtk package in combination with lightdm greeters either downgrade that one version or use the default gtk greeter

Thank you for the feedback. Then these two threads/issues look related: https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php ... 47#p698047

I don't know what AVL uses but here is another link to better explain what is going on.
Arch seems to use this also.

AVL is normally Openbox and Xfce/Lightdm was later installed by the user...
