No sound on laptop huawei matebook 14 amd 2021 klvl-w56w

#1 Post by xukamunnam »

Dear,

The sound work fine on window 11, but in Linux it only recognize external device like headphone and I can only hear sound, not using mic.
I have searched this problem at some sites, such as
As I understand, this laptop uses 'Everest I2S codec audio device' that has not fully support yet, I just want to ask is there any update yet to solve this?

I can bear with using only headphone, but I want to make the microphone either on laptop or headphone working.

my system info

Hi, I have the same processor, but not the same laptop, however I also had the same audio problem, it was solved using the "AHS" version with newer kernel, 5.16, however it is possible to upgrade to 5.17 very easily from the MX package installer, that last version adds more compatibilities with our processors.

I hope it will help you.

Thank for your solution, I just installed both 5.16 and 5.17 'ahs' but the problem is not solved. The configuration of PulseAudio control only show an 'play Hifi quality music (unplugged) (unavailable))'. it still cannot detect the sound card.

MX Select Sound in the menu. Did you select your sound card there?

I did, it has 2 options and none of them workings.

Code: Select all

Generic: HD-Intel - HD-Audio Generic
acp: acp

So, you can try the latest kernel: 5.18 from "Debian Backports" tab in MX Package Installer:

type 5.18 in the search bar,

linux-headers-5.18.0-0.bpo.1-amd64
linux-image-5.18.0-0.bpo.1-amd64-unsigned ( Or: linux-image-5.18.0-0.bpo.1-amd64 , which is signed )

Check both (in fact 4 items but it'll do the rest for you), click install, reboot.
__________________________________________________________________

As always: Don't forget to disable "Fast Startup" on Windows (as it keeps devices busy for it doesn't really shutdown).

Also: Alsamixer from menu, press F6 , select 0 ... Intel (rather than the "Default") then press F5 ...

Play with the bars using the arrow keys. You can unmute/mute any item with the M key from keyboard. Note that any item may be at max. and still be muted.

P.S. MX KDE is already AHS, just with the default 5.10 kernel.
_________________________

P.P.S. You'll find the older kernels in "Advanced Options" in Grub, to boot with, in case of a boot problem. Also you can remove the unneeded kernels simply with "MX Cleanup" - "Kernel Removal Tool" below the window.. (Alternatively : with MXPI, same way as installation)

Thank,
I have installed 5.18 pkgs and disabled "fast startup" as you suggest but it's not working. the alsamixer don't has '...Intel' as attached picture,
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Ok, you can try 0 HD-Audio ... then F5 (... though it doesn't look promising)

Have you tried any other distros? Especially Fedora or Garuda ? (no need to install, trying on live session is enough)

A pity that it has not been solved, I just searched other forums and all have the same problem, this is because the manufacturer of the audio board does not have support for Linux and the problem will remain the same even if you install another distro.

It would be a matter of waiting for the manufacturer to solve the problem or for the community to do so.

Update

I can active the mic of this laptop using this solution

Code: Select all

https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?p=1920282#p1920282
The sound work fine via bluetooth devices but the driver 'snd_rn_pci_acp3x' still not recognize laptop speaker.
