Can you check if it works with the MX 21.2 AHS live system?
And can you remember if it worked on the original MX 21 live session that you first installed from, or did that involve the Realtek?
Some machines' BIOS actually only let certain wi-fi chipsets on an approved whitelist work. I don't know how common it is nowadays, but that was the source of lots of cursing some years ago.
Hi Stevo,
just tested with the new MX 21.2 AHS live system.
I can see in dmesg, it is trying to use iwlwifi-cc-a0-71.ucode firmware, but it is still the same error :(
I am gonna open a ticket at HP to ask about that whitelist thing you mentioned. The laptop is still under warranty.
<edit>Ok, more news... I was able to create a Windows 10 Live USB Stick and got the AX200 working there without any problems, so it has to be a linux problem for sure :(
</edit>

Yes, just the weird thing is, there are many users of that in the forum.

Intel wi-fi chipsets have been able to use many versions of a certain firmware, so in dmesg, the warnings show them go down a list of ones they can't find until they do load an acceptable file. The missing ones usually were only available in-house at Intel during development, and never were released.
This is an extremely common question.

Just a small update.
I rebooted my laptop today, error messages in dmesg are still the same, but the AX200 is working now... fair enough.
I just don't have a clue what happened, since I got tired of trying since my last post on here.
So basically, nothing changed, but it's working.
Makes me even more confused, but I'm not gonna complain, lol.

Thank you for the feedback. Maybe you mark the thread as solved :)
There was such an incident I came across on the net: One of the man had an old Toshiba Satellite, he did everything to turn on the built-in wifi .. also played with the Fn keys to no avail.. Then he installed Windows to see how it's there. It was ok. Then he booted Linux and it was working there, too. Then to see what happens he turned it off on Windows then booted Linux, again it didn't work no matter what he did. His conclusion was: "Tell everyone: no matter you have Windows or not: just shutdown it for the last time when wifi is on."

That's pretty cool. I have the AX201 and got MX to see it but that's all. Don't need it but like you I just want it to work. It's the ax201! My home network is actually 2.4G only so that panda dongle is a real nice tip a the canoe. Gonna have to grab one soon.

Unfortunately I have to re-open this topic again.
I can definately reproduce the error now, because the wifi works just fine if the laptop boots on battery power.
As soon as I connect it to the power supply during boot, wifi will not start with the error messages i posted at the start of this thread.
So, whenever I need to reboot, I disconnect the power supply and just plug it back in as soon as wifi is connected.
Does that even make any sense?
What difference is there in the startup process wether it's running on battery or not?

I think now would be a good time to post your QSI.
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;
In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

Hi, regarding your kernel in use, you should consider to switch to - at least - the latest 6.1 AHS, that is offered for MX21.3.
And, please have a look at my recommendations about the firmwares used/offered for MX21/Bullseye in this thread:
