MX Package Installer/Flatpak

#1 Post by User4844 »

Hi there.
First off. What a beautiful OS. Thank you.
I have installed MX Linux 21 on a Sony Vaio 32 Bit machine, with Centrino 2 and ATI Radeon Graphics, 4GB ram and 500 GB rom. For the most part, I have not had any issues. Most items are running smoothly.
I'm having an issue with flatpaks in the MX package installer. I have installed flatpack via the stable repo tab. In the terminal the flatpak version is showing as 1.10.7. However, when I go to the flatpak tab within MX PI, nothing loads. I have spent too much time now searching online for a solution, so, here I am 9_9 .

Any thoughts or assistance on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

You've got a 64 bit processor, so why are you running the 32 bit version of MX 21?
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

That's an excellent question.

When I checked the windows system prior to downloading MX, it stated 4 gb ram and 32 bit cpu. I have just checked the specs on the sony website and I am now even more confused.

I took this from Sony https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/supp ... ifications

As you have a 64 bit hardware system, you can install both an 32bit OS or 64bit OS.
But this means, if you install a 32 bit system like Windows (32bit), then you only can use 3GB of your 4GB RAM. But if you install a 64bit system (for example Windows 10 64bit), then you can use your full 4 GB.

I'm not sure that there actually are 32 bit flatpaks on flathub.

you can check with

Code: Select all

flatpak remote-ls
which should list all available packages from flathub

lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 4 - MX-23
FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

That explains everything. It's embarrassing being a newbie. :-) Apart from a plethora of nvidia flatpaks, there are no other 32 bit flatpaks.

Thank you all! It appears that I will be installing the 64 bit version of MX.

Thank you for your help. You rock!
