How to install an old application?.

The actual program is in one or more .deb files, not a debian.tar.xz file. The latter has various files that are used by the Debian package building framework to build those .deb files from the source code files, which are the ones with .orig in the file name.

And installing with apt with the right-click should not have broken anything. It should have just refused to install because the older bibletime also needs those other packages from Buster.

Maybe an appImage is available for the program...or maybe the unknown problems you have with the newer version could have workarounds if you asked about those.

I don't know anything about it, I only see that i can't install it with gdebi and can't get it with right click>install deb files.

I removed the bibletime package and purged its settings, nothing is left of it on my system.
No, I don't have any broken packages, I already checked that, everything is fine.

Maybe a developer can install the stable version bibletime_2.11.2-11 for Synaptic and left the new version in mx-installer -- but no one has told me if I can ask for this request or not ...

You can always ask in a request on the package requests subforum. Whether it gets done is up to the devs.

In the meantime, that's just another issue "in general", not something specific to that package / .deb file.

In such a situation, you should report bugs that you discovered in a new version of Bibletime to the upstream.
In the meantime, I recommend you to use MX-19, as the older version is still supported.

The point is that installing of the old version in Bullseye base causes dependency problems as you could see at
https://packages.debian.org/bullseye/bibletime --> "Other Packages Related to bibletime"
If you install the old version, many other applications which depend the same but different version of libraries might not work afterwards.
Thus, there is a possibility that your computer will get a system-wide damage.

The new version is available in the MX installer (MX Repo-test) bibletime 3.0.3-1

Now we can install the works, bibles, etc. but there is still pending the setting of fonts and colours for the text and the background -- there is no way to configure it and that is very important for those of us who have visual problems.
