Interesting. I've dumped K9 a few weeks ago because the newer 6.x releases are a big step back in usability (which was never that great, even with the 5.x releases).

I've settled on FairEmail (like K9 also available via f-droid). That's much better but it comes with a bewildering plethora of options and a certain learning curve if you really want to master its potential. Then again, this means you can really tailor it as you want. No pain, no gain.

I've been using K-9 for many years and it's perfect for me as-is. I hope they don't simplify it and focus on cosmetic changes to appeal to a wider audience.
