Last night, error re drm_kms_helper, including ref to atomic, wait for flip done, started to prevent restart/shutdown. On looking up the error, can see people saying it's about a kernel update, possibly broken graphics driver, and particularly about issues on intel, and razor stealth 2020, machines, but I'm fully AMD, and not razor stealth pc, + no kernel upgrade since LTS on 17th March.
Yesterday installed fsearch, then later updated librewolf via the repo. Previous to that, ran live mx kde, only to attempt to get graphics tablet data ... that had involved installing wacom tablet package, but within the live, not on my system. Also had been testing some old games, and had to sort icons on the panel a few times during that. Otherwise, deliberately very hands off; no messing about with anything + minimum updates, which had been working fine since January.
Did 5 updates last night ... linux-kbuild, linux headers and image, rtl8812au-dkms, and xserver-xorg-video-intel. This solved restart/shutdown, but today booting up sticks/have to press enter.
Can install April 3rd snapshot, but am concerned what could have triggered the errors.

You know someone is going to ask you to post your QSI (Quick system Information)
Not me though.

lol, I know ... was literally just reading the thread about it and thinking I should. Always try not to post a massive post, but will go get it. :-)

The complexity of your post blows me away. I am not sure exactly what it is that you want. Are you a politician? Or a banker...

lol haha, thank goodness neither ... and my quest for simplicity it seems needs some refining.

Re: drm_kms_helper, wait for flip; shutdown/reboot issues
Thanks for answering my question. Your QSI was very intruiging. The hardware interaction superimposed on the base model requires further study.
Until then...

Re: drm_kms_helper, wait for flip; shutdown/reboot issues
lol, glad it provided some interesting reading, and, yes, I've retraced the day's steps pre-glitch, detective-style, so hopefully the clues point the way ...
Re: drm_kms_helper, wait for flip; shutdown/reboot issues
Well... I think I am maxxed out as far as cool info is concerned. Blows my mind.

Re: drm_kms_helper, wait for flip; shutdown/reboot issues
the effect of the glitch happening blew my mind too, as it seems really random, as far as I can tell ... but I'm not technically gifted, so am unlikely to know, lol
