These listing from your QSI are showing a bunch of "Docker Bridges" that are created when you setup Docker Containers...these are part of the problem.
EDIT: Apparently the Docker Bridges conflict with the Host Network.

I don't know much about setting up Docker Containers, but see if this helps (look for the 3 solutions down the page) https://stackoverflow.com/questions/505 ... st-network

I have a few more details on this issue. First I completely removed all docker containers, this is the quicksysinfo:

Unfortunately nothing changed, ethernet on the built in port works sometimes, for a while, and once it no longer works it won't come back until a reboot. This is what dmesg has to say:

dmesg
[11655.781249] r8168: eth0: link up
[11655.781249] IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth0: link becomes ready
[11655.813232] __common_interrupt: 14.33 No irq handler for vector
[11656.791256] r8168: eth0: link down
[11660.964251] r8168: eth0: link up
[11660.971153] __common_interrupt: 14.33 No irq handler for vector

Is this irq error responsible for the issue ?

On the flipside, the ethernet works just perfectly fine when using an external usb ethernet dongle, this is the quicksysinfo with the external dongle:

I would obviously love to use the internal ethernet port if possible. I think we can rule out that this was some sort of a docker issue since the external ethernet dongle works well, or am I jumping to quickly to a conclusion here? Is this a realtek driver issue, will the irq error help at all solve this ?

Thanks again for any additional pointers regarding this !

Try these (one at a time) as boot parameters:

Code: Select all

acpi=noirq

Code: Select all

pci=nomsi,noaer
You can try temporarily with pressing E on Grub, then type after ... ro quiet splash .. then hit F10

Or add into "Kernel Parameters" box in "MX Boot Options" (but this way it won't be temporary) change and try 2-3 boots..

Also: Though it already looks new, have a check if there's an available Bios update.

IMO, it's possible that the fault lies in between the kernel and your Realtek Gigabit ethernet hardware rev and the r8168 driver that supports it.

Network: Device-1: Realtek RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet vendor: Lenovo driver: r8168 v: 8.048.03-NAPI
port: 3000 bus-ID: 03:00.0 chip-ID: 10ec:8168 class-ID: 0200
IF: eth0 state: up speed: 100 Mbps duplex: full mac: <filter>

This link explains a bit more out of the many threads on 8168 driver issues in linux. --> https://askubuntu.com/questions/1279644 ... ould-i-use

Have you tried reverting to r8169 driver and see if that r8169 driver works better than r8168?
Mixed of desktops and laptops, I have a Gravis Ultrasound Classic card (unfortunately its ISA-slot based) ... - I must be a dino. :popcorn:
Running on my DesktopPC - MX-23.4 AHS with latest Kernel: 6.12.17-1-liquorix-amd64

That's a good catch, thanks ! I installed r8168 because out of the box the WiFi didn't work at all. So I could revert the driver to sacrifice the WiFi I supposed.

@Huckleberry Finn thanks, I will try to kernel params.

there is a fix for that issue that I have found online. It seems that if you reboot while still connected to the power cord you lose wi-fi.
Seems the fix is to disconnect the cord, power down and then cold boot the system. Wi-Fi has always returned for me after that. And I have kernel Linux 5.16.0-5mx-amfd64 ON MX-21.1_ahs_x64 Wildflower there seems to be a fly in the ointment somewhere....
Current project system AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX w/ Radeon graphics & NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050
Dualbooting MX-Linux and Windows 10 fully matrix themed throughout

So I tried the live USB with r8169 and the ethernet works without an issue, however the wifi is not detected (that's why I switched teh driver to r8168). The question is how can I get the best of both worlds, maybe a simple script that will modprobe between the two drivers depending on the connection state: ethernet/wifi ? Would that be possible ?
