Re: Slow shutdown in MX-21 KDE

I suspect this may have to do with the sddm-modified-init package ?

I am seeing this delay too (both in sysVinit and systemd modes), and sometimes my system wont reboot nor shutdown at all, i just get a black screen after plasma terminates. If i switch to console and hit Ctrl-Alt-Del (or use the shutdown or reboot commands), that works but the reboot or shutdown initiated from within the graphical plasma session fails (on those rare occasions; the delay is always perceptible)

This is pretty much my only gripe with this edition, BTW.

I have noticed the same thing. Its no biggie, but now that you mentioned it and i noticed in your log that you have a delay with kdeconnect, after I removed it there were no 10 second delay anymore.

Yeah, you are right. Thanks a lot for this tip. I have found the bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=432643.
MX Team picked a bad KDE version then.
After disable the kdeconnect by following one instruction in that bug report: system tray > Configure System Tray > Entries > KDE Connect, and set it to disabled
The slow down problem is gone and everything is back to normal.
MX LInux is based on Debian Sable. Therefore the KDE version that is in Stabe is what MX uses. Therefore it is not MX picking a bad version of KDE.

Excellent tip indeed, after i disabled kdeconnect the delay is gone.

Prior to MX21's release i had been using bullseye with plasma5 but without kdeconnect - i see now that if i add it the same annoying delay appears, too. I was wrong in suspecting MX's init script, my bad.

If the issue is known to be solved in newer plasma releases, perhaps a kdeconnect backport would be nice in the MX test repo.

It looks like it's been fixed lately
Until we get the latest plasma updates in MX, the only "fix" is to uninstall kdeconnect or to disable it in the systray (file sharing works, but no notifications)
