Keyboard light does not shut off when lid to Laptop is closed

#1 Post by FormBurden »

Hi there,

been using this awesome distro for a bit now, and got to say I'm impressed.

An issue I've run into is when I close the lid the keyboard lights that are on do not shut off, so the battery drains faster. Is there a setting somewhere where I can disable this? I tried looking into both Keyboard settings for something but to no avail, couldn't find anything. Even in the lid options for when on power or off power. Nothing.

All my device stats are below, but a simple run-down. My device is a MacBook Pro 2014 edition, full install, no duel-boots. Everything works fine for the most part, so this distro does work well on MacBooks.

Anything I can do? Or maybe this could be a bug.

Thanks!

Hey; I don't have a straight answer for you but, I have the same kind of device MacBookPro 8,1 where it took me a while to figure the LID behavior and where I resolved it by playing in the /etc/systemd/logind.conf configuration: https://www.freedesktop.org/software/sy ... .conf.html
Otherwise; by looking for "MacBook Pro keyboard backlight" I found this https://askubuntu.com/questions/26248/h ... on-macbook
I hope that help you

No worries, I appreciate the links though. Will see what I can do.

Welcome to the forum ,

You can try the 5.14 kernel from "MX Package Installer" - Popular Apps tab.

(Just to make it clear: in Power Manager closing the lid is set to 'suspend' ? )
___________________________________________________________________

What happens if you just suspend (then close the lid) ?

Or suspend with:

Code: Select all

sudo pm-suspend
___________________________________________________________________

Just btw. : gfxsave is for live session only and the correct sysntax is gfxsave=xxx

"Set the current bootloader settings as the defaults. Valid values: custom, menus, both, reset" .

(You can remove that with "MX Boot Options")

Meanwhile, maybe there's an Fn + F key to switch On/Off etc..

Also try after installing this:

Code: Select all

sudo apt update ; sudo apt install laptop-mode-tools -y
Reboot.
