I'm having 'issues' with my Waterfox and would like to import all of my bookmarks, etc. into my Firefox browser. I looked at the manual, but didn't see a section on browsers, did a search for a similar topic posted here, but no joy.
I'm planning to just move everything to Firefox and dump Waterfox.
THX, Bierhundt

NOTE: The issue I'm having is that every time I use Waterfox for YouTube, the new page appears, and seconds later a blue warning comes up across the top "A web page is slowing down your browser, what would you like to do?" and the page freezes up. Over to the right hand side there are two white spaces .... one says 'stop it' and the other says 'wait' which, if I choose 'stop it' I lose the page, and if I choose 'wait' it usually takes a half a minute or so to resolve the situation. I have no idea what is wrong or how to cure it other than dump the Waterfox and hang on to the Firefox that was originally installed.

You can easily import bookmarks into Firefox, doing the same for history is more complicated.

Or you could try another Firefox-based browser like Basilisk. That might fix it.

You can import the whole waterf. profile, i prefer just the important files you find in profiles directory:

key4.db = keybank of your passwords
logins.json = passwords
permissions.sqlite = sitesettings from visited sites
places.sqlite = bookmarks, list of downloaded files, history
favicons.sqlite = favicons
formhistory.sqlite = saved searchforms
persdict.dat = manually added words to dictionary
cookies.sqlite = saved cookies
cert9.db = ssl certifikates, safety settings
handler.json = settings how to handle files

hope it works from water to fire ;-)
worked for me firefox -> librewolf!

Hi, Sorry I missed your posts - been busy on other things. I'm about to dump my whole install and start over. YouTube isn't running right, and since most of what I do on my lappy is surfing U-T, I'll just have to go thru the bookmarks and get all them. BTW, I used to drink Kulmbacher beer at a German restaurant in Summner, WA, back about 30 or 40 yrs. ago, good beer w/pop-tops, ...... just like we had in Germany when I was in the Army in the early '60's - Never expected to see that name again!

Just checked the Firefox, when I checked the box for importing from another browser, it said no other browser could be found! Maybe I'd be better just backing up everything to a USB stick, and go with a new MX install.

I just went to Firefox support and asked how to import and the answer was "No Info found" I was also trying to refresh Firefox, but couldn't find the buttons they showed in the instructions. I guess I'll go with my previous plan of backing up, dumping my MX, and start fresh with the latest/greatest! This seems to happen to me every time I get my lappy going just the way I want it. I don't know if it's something in the upgrades that is doing this, but that blue line mentioned above is driving me bananas!

AFAIK, both browser provide an export/import function of bookmarks to/from HTML. Open bookmark manager (Ctrl+Shift+O) to import or export html-saved bookmarks.

Nope, that didn't work neither. I tried it in both --- in Firefox (import from Waterfox), and in Waterfox (import from Firefox - both tries told me there was no other browser to import from. I'm hanging it up and going to d it one-by-one over time. This might work for you guru''s/techies, but not for this old man. I won't mark it solved, becuz I don't want others to look for this thread, hoping to find a resolution to their problem.

You would first from running Waterfox export the bookmarks to a file, save somewhere e.g. as waterfox-bookmarks.html
Now within firefox you import the bookmarks from the saved file waterfox-bookmarks.html.

Here is an easy way to copy bookmarks from Waterfox to Firefox.
1. Have both browser closed
2. Show hidden files in your file Manager
3. Find the bookmarkbackups folder in the browser you want the bookmarks from
4. they sre listed by date, Click to copy the latest one.
5. then find the Firefox bookmarkbackups folder and paste the into it.
6. open Firefox - Manage Books - Click Import and Backup - Restore, Pick the dated file you copied (size) file you copied.
7. The icons may not be like they were but as you used they will change
8. If you do not like it the just restore to another date/items

I just tested this from Pale Moon to the latest Firefox and is not even the same type of browser.
It is easier to fight for one's principles then to live up to them.
