MX 21 - Screen Stays Dark after Blank

#1 Post by cancunia »

I've just downloaded MX 21 for testing on my HP 6930p and noticed that the screen stays dark / won't come back on after blanking. I get a black screen, although I can see the backlight is on and I do see a mouse pointer. If I suspend the system via hotkey while the screen is dark, the screen comes back on after resume.

Though it's already "Intel"

Display: x11 server: X.Org 1.20.11 driver: intel

... nothing to lose (sometimes this weirdly solves such issues):

Menu => "MX Tweak" : "Other" tab : "Use Intel instead of modesetting ... " ... Apply , reboot.

That seems to have fixed it.

Many thanks

This is really weird. That one caused different issues many times.. Though all show as already "intel" ...

I'm sorry, but could you please tell me where to go to do this? How do I get to the "Menu"?

MX Tweaks is in the MX Tools menu, from the main menu accessed via the bottom left of the screen.

I had the same problem on an old Toshiba Satellite. The cure worked there, too. THANKS!

I have a system that is doing this. In the past I have tried the "Use Intel" in MX Tweak and got bad results. In one case the desktop became unusable. But I will try this again to see what happens.

Edit - this did not work for me. I will start another topic when I am ready. No need to hijack this thread. Just to report that setting to "Use Intel" did not work in my case.

This worked for me, thanks! My situation was happening after the screen blanked due to the power settings (display timeout setting), not the screen saver. Power manager / Display / Blank after. After letting the screen blank, then moving the mouse, it would stay black but have just the cursor visible. Now after checking the "use Intel driver" box per your instructions, it works fine.
