Interesting find, not sure what that does if the top of my head, maybe someone that knows stuff about Nvidia can confirm and shed some light.

Edit: I assume the same would be true for regular MX then, since nothing special is done for Nvidia on MX except maybe the package versions and kernel.

I can confirm that MX 21 RC3 LiveMedium is unstable on an Intel small board computer (Atom, Goldmont) while using the modesetting driver. After a week of light testing while streaming video via web browser, Firefox would crash and/or the whole OS would crash. GLX gears looks nice though. Video is streaming real nice and smooth.

I just figured out how turn on Persistence with LiveMedium. @dolphin_oracle, I read you said the Intel driver is a more stable option now? I'm currently giving that a try.

just figured out how turn on Persistence with LiveMedium.
I take that back. I haven't successfully figured that out. Specifically, I'm using LiveUSB. Ultimately here, I'm trying to test the Intel i915 driver.

i915 is the kenrel driver. "intel" is the xorg driver.

when you specify a persistence option, the first time it makes the persistence files. if the persistence option is specified in the future, then the system will use existing persistence files.

there are save options in the boot menu options to make those sorts of changes happen everytime.

I finished my test with "MX-21 ahs". here are my results:
- Installing OS - Pass
- Starting installed OS - Pass
- Installing VMWare Client for work from home (and work from home) - Pass
- Installing Microsoft Teams and run it - Pass
- Installing Teamviewer and run it - Pass
- Installing Digikam and do some basic tasks - Pass
- Installing Paperwork and caliber scanner - Pass (hell that never worked before - jippi)
- Installing German language Pack for libre office - Pass
- Installing Lutris and run one of my all time favorite games - Pass
- Installing Steam and run a Linux native game - Pass
- Youtube 4K Test - Pass
- Youtube nervous clicking Test - Failed i noticed once, that i heard the sound of the video, but the picture were freezed - Maybe an artifact like a bad internet bandwith .
- Run a Windows Game over SteamPlay - Failed

I tested the stuff I need in my daily work and entertainment. Actually this can and will be my system. :happy:

I don’t know what the YouTube test above even is, so not sure where to even start with that.

Same for the SteamPlay game, would have to know more as testing on my end proves it works in general.

I would be interested in this too as I did not experience any issues with SteamPlay so far.

The Test is quit easy. Watching random videos and then change the position of the video. So go forward or backwards. I did it several times. And as I was testing, I noticed, that the picture were frozen, but the sound were playing. I think it has nothing to do with the OS. And it's more a problem with my internet bandwidth.

I only testet two Games:
World of Warships
Did not start at all. I did not tried any tweaks

Kingdom Come Deliverance
(would be a hard one to miss for me)
I did some tweaks (coping some files from one folder to the other in the bin directory) i found on youtube. But the game did not run nether i used tweaks or not.
The game started, but in the main screen, the menu never appears and it never stopped loading.
I also tried gamemodeon, but with that it does not start at all (guess it is not installed 9_9 )


I did not test it on an other Distro. I tried to install SteamOS but that OS won't start at all. I will give popOS a try.

I have checked both on proton.db and according to them you should in general be fine with both games.

May I ask for your System Information from MX21 Ahs RC3?
I saw you have already posted the information in a different thread but this was on the Beta-Version of MX and there your XOrg-Driver was not loaded. I would like to compare them if you don‘t mind :)
