Adding USB 3.0 PCI-E Hub to an older motherboard
Adding USB 3.0 PCI-E Hub to an older motherboard
I'm planning to add a PCI-E card to the motherboard in my signature (ASUS M4A77T). The model of card I'm looking at has a FL1100 chipset which linux-hardware.org suggests has been supported since kernel 2.6.31. I'm wondering if it is really as simple as plugging in the new card with no additional configuration. The model I'm looking at is a Totovin 3A1C on Amazon. If anyone has information on how this type of card will work in practice with MX, I'd be grateful to hear your advice.
MX Linux 21.3 64 bit, Asus M4A77T, Athlon II X2 260, Radeon HD5570, Realtek RTL8192EE PCIe Wireless Network Adapter, 16Gb RAM, 2 x 500Gb Sata SSD

Re: Adding USB 3.0 PCI-E Hub to an older motherboard
Years ago I added a PCI card with 2xUSB3 sockets to an old BIOS motherboard.
I don't expect it to be recognized at boot (startup) time. Helps speeds on USB3 stuff.
Just like good USB3 devices also work better with USB2 sockets.
