MX-21 KDE/plasma RC1 feedback
Re: MX-21 KDE/plasma RC1 feedback
When updating packages via Discover (from the update notification icon in the task bar) the progress bar will stuck at 49%, also the download progress of updated packages is not updated from this point on. Than after some waiting it turns to finished.

I have seen Discover slow at times doing updates. I do not think it is Discover but perhaps a slow server. I use MX's apt notifier for general updates. The advantage is you can see more progress information than Discover. However it cannot make up for a slow server. You can install it from the stable repo as apt-notifier. The other option is to try faster server.rainfox wrote: Fri Oct 15, 2021 4:32 pm When updating packages via Discover (from the update notification icon in the task bar) the progress bar will stuck at 49%, also the download progress of updated packages is not updated from this point on. Will give apt-notifier a try.richb wrote: Fri Oct 15, 2021 4:44 pmI have seen Discover slow at times doing updates. I do not think it is Discover but perhaps a slow server. I've seen this behavior of Discover several times, so I thought its not just by chance. Just a small imperfection :-)

I'm having the same issue her. The Shutdown/Reboot Buttons in the login screen (SDDM?) are grayed out. How to check whether I'm using systemd or not?baldyeti wrote: Wed Oct 06, 2021 9:05 am On the sddm login screen; the shutdown/reboot options only work when booted under systemd. Once logged in, the options work fine from the KDE start menu itself, in both init modes.
On two other systems in live mode, once logging off the KDE session the sddm screen also has the reboot/shutdown options greyed out.Code: Select all

Otherwise, as already mentioned with both betas: under systemd, this hdd-installed system still complains about non-existent /etc/machine-id (which does not seem to cause any problem, though)
I've installed the "sddm-modified-init" package.

You'll see it at the bottom of your QSI as Init: systemd, see above where I saved it from baldyeti's QSI they posted.rainfox wrote: Fri Oct 15, 2021 5:05 pm ....I'm having the same issue her. Those buttons on login screen are missing (or are greyed out) when more than one user is logged in. Just guessing if this could be the case?rainfox wrote: Fri Oct 15, 2021 5:05 pm I'm having the same issue her. The Shutdown/Reboot Buttons in the login screen (SDDM?) are grayed out. Re: MX-21 KDE/plasma RC1 feedback
In my case the problem only occured when booting with sysVinit (the MX default) and was solved by installing the suggested packagerainfox wrote: Fri Oct 15, 2021 5:05 pm I'm having the same issue her. Just a notice for those that check the thread. Scheduled AHS Repo package (Mesa, Intel drivers, some other things) updates will be coming down, you'll get them dependent on your mirrors. If new graphical and hardware issues arise you can blame me.

Kernel 5.4 is in repo but for mx 19.1. When update to 19.4, this kernel gone. My old laptop work very well witch kernel 4.19, and 5.4. Steam game work perfect, witch kernel 5.4 :DAdrian wrote: Thu Oct 14, 2021 2:40 pm MX-21 comes with 5.10 (which is a LTS kernel too), not 100% sure what you are talking about, if you are talking about MX-19 look in kernel section of MX PackageInstaller and try another kernel.

Re: MX-21 KDE/plasma RC1 feedback
We don't do updates to Kernel 5.4 though, 4.19 and 5.10 will get updates. You can use whatever kernel you want, but its better and safer to use a updated and stable kernel.Marek wrote: Sun Oct 17, 2021 6:09 am Kernel 5.4 is in repo but for mx 19.1.
