@Arnox For Steam it isn't that its "missing" like already said, its a matter or knowing how to use the package management tools to find i386 packages
Edit: this is why its in Popular Apps... makes things smarter not harder.

Quickly I made a screenshot for Synaptic.... MXPI.... coming next

Have no clue about the Flatpak issue... haven't had time to look, but its probably something small and easy

On that note, it seems some packages are missing from the MX Package Installer. Notably Steam (can be installed via the Popular Applications tab though) and VeraCrypt. Synaptic's not installed either, though I'm not sure if that's intended or not. Doing an apt-get install for VeraCrypt also results in it finding nothing.

By the way, no, I didn't touch the default respositories.

as far as I know, veracrypt is not on flathub so there is no flatpak for it. and its not in the debian repo. The veracrypt authors actually prefer folks to download from their own site.

(see image) However the action is fulfilled, but they are still grayed out in /home (second image). If I change directory, when I come back; they have already been deleted from the sending folder and are still in the destination folder. The annoying thing is the message that appears and the gray color of the files, otherwise the files are changed and are not damaged. (third image)

I close and give solved this point for me, I formatted the hard disk, I created partition /home, /root, /swap and made a ntfs partition for data; and I reinstalled again MX 21RC. It did not work for me to make ext4 partition for data because it did not allow me to access it, so I made it ntfs and now I work without problems to copy, cut and paste.

I had this problem on B2 and now on RC1 in one setup (out of 3). Just open Application Menu > Power / Session and right-click on the missing item. Then select Add to favourites. This fixed it for me.

@Adrian Live session was ok in my case. The icon(s) went missing after couple of reboots in RC1.
That did the trick, @markol . Thanks.

@Adrian , I'm almost certain it was okay in the live session when I installed.

Maybe it hasn’t been addressed yet since only so many things can get fixed in one month across all MX versions?

Maybe it’s a KDE issue, not an MX issue?

Any reason no one has identified the exact cause and let us know?
its not default in debian. we had patched the network-manager clients under mx19, but the same patches don't work this time.
I've tried several things to reproduce the "wifi not connection" issue on login.
The thing that finally fixed it, I enabled the "KDE Wallet" checkbox.
From that point on the wifi connection was restored on every login. Even after disabling the KDE Wallet this kept on.

Can someone check this?

As you have installed vivaldi:
A workaround fix to make opera work again:

Code: Select all

sudo cp /opt/vivaldi/lib/libffmpeg.so /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/opera/lib_extra/libffmpeg.so
Thanks @fehlix with this trick now Opera opens without problem. Thank you.

Yeah, looks like Veracrypt is not in the Debian 11 stable repo. Weird...

As to Steam, I'm not so concerned about Steam itself so much as wanting to make sure I see all 32 and 64 bit packages. Again, how would I turn that 32 bit filter off? Or am I misunderstanding things?

To be honest, I'm not too bothered about not being able to install Skype (via mxpi favourites) or Freetube (via flatpak) as I can install them using the deb files from their sites and they both seem to work just fine. I don't suppose this happened because I uninstalled plasma-discover and added synaptic and apt-notifier?
