On that note, it seems some packages are missing from the MX Package Installer. Notably Steam (can be installed via the Popular Applications tab though) and VeraCrypt. Synaptic's not installed either, though I'm not sure if that's intended or not. Doing an apt-get install for VeraCrypt also results in it finding nothing.

By the way, no, I didn't touch the default respositories.

Steam in Debian is a 32 bit package and sometimes gets filtered out by default. Try installing steam:i386

In the main menu, one of the three circular buttons is missing. I have Logout and Restart, but not Shutdown. Had something similar in B1, B2 was like it was supposed to be.

I installed Opera from the MX repository, and it won't start; I uninstalled and reinstalled from the repository, and it won't start either. I downloaded the .deb file from the official Opera website, installed it, and it doesn't start either, I downloaded Opera_Developer.deb and installed it, and it does start. What is the reason? Firefox and Vivaldi work without problem.

that is weird. I've seen the problem with shutodwn and restart being missing, but not just shutdown. Its still proving hard to reproduce, and that usually means some kind of timing problem somewhere.

Data points:

It's consistent between the handful of boots/reboots I've done since installing last night.

Install was done from USB made with MX tool on my desktop. Install was done after booting with the toram cheatcode.

can you start from the terminal and see if any output?

Opera is third party and not open source so there isn't much we can do about their deb but lets see if there is something else.

Do you see the power button in the live environment? Needless to say I don't see this behavior either in Live or Installed...

I had this problem on B2 and now on RC1 in one setup (out of 3). Just open Application Menu > Power / Session and right-click on the missing item. Then select Add to favourites. This fixed it for me.

@Adrian Live session was ok in my case. The icon(s) went missing after couple of reboots in RC1.
