Black Screen On Installation

Helllo everyone,

I'm trying to install Xfce/Fluxbox MX-19.4.1_x64 "ahs". But I can't progress through the installation, I always get black. I've tried all the setup options, but i got a black screen on all of them.

System informations:
MSI Alpha 15 B5EEK-008
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with Radeon Graphics (16) @ 3.200GHz
GPU: AMD ATI Radeon RX 6600M 8GB

Unfortunately with a system this new, you’ll have to wait for MX-21 AHS, we have some users in the same boat. You can try the MX-21 Beta in the meantime, but you’ll want to enable the AHS Repo, then update BEFORE installing. It still won’t be perfect, we’re waiting on the newer Mesa stack to support your GPU… should be soon though hopefully.

I was getting the black screen issue recently too ,not just MX but other linux iso's as well .

The first live usb bootup and also full installation that has been trouble free for me is the latest Xfce/MX-21_ahs_rc1_x64.iso
Probably applies to other newer spins too i would think.
There could well be a newer release like rc2 or higher by the time anyone reads this.

He is talking about the RC1, not the final release.

I have the same black screen on install, and my pc I don't think is really new, i5 3rd gen and a nvidia gtx950. Adding nomodeset in the grub doesn't help because I keep getting the same problem.

Same problem installing MX21 KDE from live USB key. Key boots and comes to the "Install MX21" page. Press enter. System proceeds, press Alt-F1 and I see boot information streaming by. Screen then changes to black screen showing the mouse pointer and it is movable. Screen then shifts again to black screen with blinking cursor in top left corner and just sits there. I hit AltF1 again and screen changes to console login screen saying to run "cli-install". I went a little way into that but not sure how to answer some of the questions.

I know my system is fairly new, so I suspect it is a gfx driver problem. System info below.

Any suggestions?

For users with hardware that came out in the last year, at this point your best bet is to try MX-21 AHS RC1.
