question re MBR vs GPT with MX [solved]

#1 Post by Seeker »

Hi all. Read today that Win 11 requires GPT for security purposes. This is due to need to use latest UEFI, which apparently enhances Windows security in some way or ways. I had the impression that the GPT vs MBR question itself is relevant re allowing larger file size or larger directory/volume size. We can use GPT with MX but does this have any relevance re security on MX? I know that MX can be used either with legacy boot (which I have on my Thinkpad X220) or with UEFI. thanks in advance for enlightenment.

GPT: GUID Partition Table
MBR: Master Boot Record.

You are mixing things up. You can have MBR with GPT, so you are confusing things here.

windows 11 is supposedly UEFI with secure boot enabled. MX cannot boot with secure boot enabled at this time, but UEFI is great.
