Actually the upgrading through the stable repo is just the same, as during the process it's fetching the new version from opensuse.tony37 wrote: Sat Mar 27, 2021 11:47 ama better way to install ungoogled-chromium is given in post #5 by Stevo: so at https://software.opensuse.org/download/ ... d_chromiumdingdongsolong wrote: Sat Mar 27, 2021 11:16 am One more thing, although I have installed UGC with the binaries to the verison 87, under the stable repo there are upgrades to version 89. Maybe someone in the future may want to know this one. Just FYI.

Any ideas on this? The freezes render UGC unusable.dingdongsolong wrote: Sat Mar 27, 2021 11:10 amWould you mind elaborating on what you meant by "irritating"?dolphin_oracle wrote: Sat Mar 27, 2021 8:56 am fair warning the chromium flatpaks have been irritating in the past.
Besides, I have encountered a problem while using both chrome and ungoogled chromium. The browser kept lagging and freezing. I have been googling for a while. Do you mind pointing me to a solution and giving your advice on this one? I am using MX-19.

You mentioned "chrome"...did you mean chromium instead of Google Chrome?dingdongsolong wrote: Sat Mar 27, 2021 11:10 amWould you mind elaborating on what you meant by "irritating"?dolphin_oracle wrote: Sat Mar 27, 2021 8:56 am fair warning the chromium flatpaks have been irritating in the past.

Have you tried disabling the hardware acceleration for the GUI for either one?

1) UGC - install UGC in Terminal
Note - before you start, you need to uninstall your existing version of Chrome and/or Chromium, otherwise it will conflict with UGC
echo 'deb http://download.opensuse.org/repositori ... an_Buster/ /' | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/home-ungoogled_chromium.list > /dev/null
curl -s 'https://download.opensuse.org/repositor ... elease.key' | gpg --dearmor | sudo tee /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/home-ungoogled_chromium.gpg > /dev/null
sudo apt update
sudo apt install -y ungoogled-chromium-l10n

Re: Request MX19 - Ungoogled Chromium
Once you fire up UGC - go to Settings and select Duck-Duck Go as your default Search engine
OR
You can add Google to the list, rinse and repeat :)

Re: Request MX19 - Ungoogled Chromium
I found ungoogled Chromium on Flatpak, however I wasn't able to install it.
I kept getting an error saying it requires a later version of Flatpak (Namely 1.8.2)
To my understanding, MX's current version of Flatpak is way behind at 1.2.5.
