I once made a post about how to configure MXFB 19 to be used in computers with low RAM...
There are a few steps users can follow, that still apply to MXFB 21- all available straight from the menu (out of sight)!
1- Turn off desktop icons
2- Turn off the dock (you can always add launchers to the tint2 toolbar)
3- Turn off conky

You can also close apps that are running in the system tray, that are not essential:
1- close the clipboard manager
2- close the updater
3- close the audio volume manager (if you need to change the volume, relaunch it: fluxboxmenu > run > type "volumeicon")

This gets you MXFB running in less than 250 mb of idle RAM...

More extreme option (that cost you having quick launch icons on the toolbar)- you can revert back to the original fluxbox toolbar:
Menu > Appearance > Toolbar > Fluxbox
(you can revert back to the default tint2 toolbar with: Menu > Appearance > Toolbar > Traditional

You can also, of course, shave some more mb of RAM usage closing unneeded processes (if you are running in bare metal, remove virtual box client related stuff... Don' need a printer? Remove CUPS related stuff, etc...

On the opposite spectrum of configuring MXFB, you can change the wallpapers, fluxbox styles, and run compton to have some very cool window effects, wasting a bit of RAM, but ending up with a system that is about on par as running xfce, gnome, or Kde...

Edit:
I forgot what I really wanted to suggest here to the Dev team- have the "menu" button in the default tint2 toolbar act more like a "regular" start menu, you can use it to toggle between launching or closing the xfce-finder... Over 1 year ago I wrote a small script that did just that. It's over at viewtopic.php?p=597616#p597616
You don't even have to edit the init file, like I suggested there... simply creating the script and linking left click in tint2 "menu" button to it, will toggle the menu on or off in a smart way... like most users expect a "start menu" to act... without any extra cost on system resources!

Hi gennargiu! Can you add some detail? You started with MX-21 Xfce B2, then what? Did you use MX Package Installer to add Fluxbox WM? If yes, what did you do then? Did you run MX Fluxbox using the Xfce menu or rofi (Logo key)? And then what do you mean by "it doesn't work" exactly?
hello and thanks for the prompt reply, I am using the beta 2 version of mx linux 21 with xfce enviroment of series, fluxbox was already added I did not install the windows manager, what does not work in the dock bar at the bottom is the setting manager button, clicking on it does not happen nothing, thanks for your help :) - the mx linux logo works is the key immediately after the wrench key does not work
You probably need to install custom-toolbox which is what is used to make the settings manager

FYI: mx "test" repo is not the same thing as debian testing repo.

Hi
I think you need to edit the fluxbox menu config file so it's "music player" and "terminal" entries point to the applications you want...
By default MXFB's music player is Deadbeef and the terminal is probably rox-term...

If you are going to go at MXFB this way, you really could profit from reading the Help document (life preserver icon on dock). It should come up in Italian BTW.
