[SOLVED] AVL-MXE and Behringer UMC404HD - No input at all  [Solved]

#1 Post by pablogvieira »

I've been using AVL-MXE for a couple months with an Audient EVO 4 Audio Interface with no major issues.

I bought a Behringer UMC 404HD and for some reason all of its inputs seem muted. I can use it for playback with both PulseAudio and Jack but I get no input signal in any of the channels on any sound system.

I don't know exactly how to troubleshoot this issue, but I've tested the audio interface with many other distributions via live USB - Fedora 34, Manjaro 21, Linux Mint 20.1, Ubuntu Studio 21.04, and I got good audio input on all of them.

In my non-scientific tests, he only operating systems where I've had this issue were AVL-MXE and MX-21 beta 2.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you so much in advance.

EDIT: I solved it by opening QASMixer and enabling the little circles under the faders. They were disabled for some reason.

@pablogvieira while you're waiting for some audio or other gurus to respond.

Please provide your Quick System Information.

Did you check AlsaMixer or PulseAudio Control to see if its muted there?

Volume is at 100% in pavucontrol and it also seems normal in alsamixer

Solved!
I opened QASMixer (I'm not really familiar with it) and for some reason the device inputs were disabled. Everything is working smoothly now. Sorry for bothering.

This sometimes happens when USB Audio devices are initialized for the first time, seems to have no rhyme or reason but once it's fixed it usually doesn't happen again..

And yes Qasmixer's UI in general is not terrible great, the dark theme doesn't help.. Using alsamixer from the terminal is just as effective, in fact I think I'll be removing the Qastools in the next release..
