Scrollbars, regardless of where they are, are themed by the gtk theme, ie "Applications" setting. NOT Window Manager themes.

Scrollbars are not part of the outline/border of of the window.
Well.. there you go, that kinda makes clear how confusing it all gets to me ;) I am smart in other areas, obviously

But again.. no biggie. My understanding is I just need to set all three names the same, and that sorts it.
Fair enough, but like DO said, these theming concepts haven't changed since mx14! How have you been handling the app and window manager themes from MX14 to 19?

From within settings manager I went in appearance where I set the style, and then back and in window manager style tab where I set the theme (greybird-mx and daloa respectively). That was all I needed to do.

I see there is 'choose a theme set' in mx tweak - theme in mx 19 but I have never used that at all.

so I added the selection boxes to the mx-tweak theme tab because I got tired of having to use two different apps to set theme options in Xfce. so combined them all in one place, and with the "save theme set" feature that Nite Coder added a while back, its even easier to play with themes because you can save your own theme sets right from that interface as well.

Yep, I saw that and I have saved a theme (ohhh look at me being modern haha).

But in order to get all the program windows to listen I DO have to set up the one in window manager still. Once I have those three set the same all is looking the same in the world.
I was wondering why stuff was being so messy before I heard there were multiple settings. As in more than 2. I now have 3 that need setting.

I'm not graphic artist either. I stole the clip currently used from somewhere on the website I think. We used to just put text in there but there was a suggestion that welcome needed sprucing up and that's where the graphic currently in use came from. its definitely a compromise graphic as is.
You are correct, the panel is not transparent. I grabbed a "washed" out section of the default wallpaper from the bottom left area of the wallpaper, then laid it in behind the original graphic that you were using after I make the background transparent. Then I applied a few different filters in Krita to get the best darkness ratio. I agree that the graphic works best with the default wallpaper. My goal was to have a better "first impression" when someone installs MX-21 for the first time. I like MX Welcome, but I wonder how many use Welcome regularly after they have started customizing MX to their personal tastes. I typically don't use Welcome screens much after the first couple of times that I boot up a distro. The current graphic with its gray and especially red color clashes more with our wallpaper that is more towards the pink/purple spectrum. If the goal is to have a Welcome that is opened frequently by users after they have customized their install than yes the current default is probably the best. If we wanted a more cohesive "first impression" than perhaps my graphic provides that. Just thought I would submit it for consideration, you won't hurt my feelings if it is not used. You are doing great work, and MX-21 will be wonderful for so many users. Thanks for all you are doing.

+1 , and it was a very good idea.

I just tried to install on my PC. To be honest MX-19 does only run with acpi=off (which is anoying).

It seems to have a problem with the AMD driver:

Code: Select all

[ 111.446907] Not activating Mandatory Access Control as /sbin/tomoyo-init does not exist.
And I think there is an issue with the USB3 and the m2 drive as well:

But I'm happy i was able to login in a shell and the keyboard is working (never got so far with MX-19 and acpi on) - unfortunately, there was no way to reach a graphical interface.

To be honest I'm very new to linux and MX in special. And most of the time I have no clue what i'm doing. It's also possible my hardware has a problem. I attached dmesg and lshw output of that help. Please advice me if I should bring more information (with some hints how to get them :-)).

@BasicSloth can you post your Quick System Info (its in the main Whisker menu). Always start with this when asking for help, especially hardware related.

@BasicSloth If you cannot reach the graphical interface, this is the command that is run:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxxxrza
