Flatpaks suddenly not opening, repo not found [Solved]
Flatpaks suddenly not opening, repo not found
I rely on flatpaks for a few apps on MX. Suddenly they don't seem to be opening. Here is the current state:
* Apps do register as installed in the MX Package Installer, and I just updated them all there
* Flatpak apps do appear in XFCE Whisker Menu, but nothing happens when I click one
* App names in terminal (eg "zoom") get "command not found"
* commands "flatpak list" and "flatpak update" get "While opening repository [~]/.local/share/flatpak/repo: opendir(objects): No such file or directory"
I would be okay with reinstalling everything if needed; I just don't have a lot of understanding on how flatpak relates to the broader MX system.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Flatpaks suddenly not opening, repo not found
Right-click on a flatpak app in Whisker, select edit application, copy the command, open a terminal and run it there, and look for error messages.

Re: Flatpaks suddenly not opening, repo not found
Thanks, @JayM. Same error as above: "While opening repository [~]/.local/share/flatpak/repo: opendir(objects): No such file or directory"

Re: Flatpaks suddenly not opening, repo not found
You should read this reddit thread - apparently some important flatpak files can switch ownership to the "root" user, which will cause you this problem. You can look at ownership of your flatpak files and directories and see if you have a problem in this regard: https://www.reddit.com/r/kdeneon/commen ... g/e80jdhy/ntnsndr wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 4:26 pm I rely on flatpaks for a few apps on MX. Re: Flatpaks suddenly not opening, repo not found
@andyprough Thank you for this suggestion. For me, the chown command in the thread didn't help (the command ran fine, but didn't change the errors). As far as I can tell, everything in the .local/share/flatpak is owned by my user, and was before I did the command.
Is there a safe way to clean the slate on flatpak without messing up the relevant runtimes for MX, etc.? I can easily reinstall the handful of packages I use flatpak for.
Thank you for bearing with me!

Let's try creating the folder that flatpak complains is missing:ntnsndr wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 11:25 pm @andyprough Thank you for this suggestion. Thanks—I'll give that a try and report back.

That did it! Thank you so much.
