Just noticed backports has inxi 3.3 whereas the beta currently ships 3.0, perhaps worth the upgrade ?

Search for apt-notifier in mxpi

I have always steered clear of discover in the past... It always seemed clunky.. Maybe it is better now but I feel happier with mx updater handling stuff
I was looking for something with both mx and notifier in its name! That's why I didn't find it. Anyway, apt-notifier is installed and plasma-discover is gone. And all is well with the world!

I had not used the installer in quite a while; it is sleek & fast !

Installed twice without any issue so far (once to a reformatted partition, another one preserving /home from a plain bullseye/kde i had), both working very well.

@AK-47: One small enhancement request for the installer: when installing grub to PBR, the partition drop-down does *not* default to the partition which was used as root (but i guess to the 1st linux partition on the disk, ext3 from another distro in my case).

I noticed a couple error lines when booting in systemd mode:

[ +0.000028] systemd[1]: System cannot boot: Missing /etc/machine-id and /etc is mounted read-only.
[ +0.000007] systemd[1]: Booting up is supported only when:
[ +0.000005] systemd[1]: 1) /etc/machine-id exists and is populated.
[ +0.000004] systemd[1]: 2) /etc/machine-id exists and is empty.
[ +0.000004] systemd[1]: 3) /etc/machine-id is missing and /etc is writable.

yet the PC proceeds to boot and everything apparently works as expected

There's one thing I do like about the installer (though this is not specific to the KDE Beta). "Preserve" now works on the root directory whether or not you have /home present on it. This means I can install a new system without changing the UUID. This is really good when you have multiple partitions with different systems on them, it saves you having to make changes to /etc/fstab

KDE Partition Manager -> Right-click on the partition and select "Edit Mount Point". Isn't that doing what you need?

(New install from USB with new ISO downloaded)

Did the above in the Live session, told the installer to save live config changes, and on reboot to the newly installed system the wifi connected automagically. Thanks.

Dolphin still crashing on newly installed system. It tries, but craps out, followed by a "Dolphin closed unexpectantly" popup. When launching from the Panel, nothing comes up on screen. When launching from the application menu, the top window bar appears but the username one would expect to see is truncated.

Very very weird.

@uncle mark did you check the ISO, also might want to test the installation medium too. I haven't seen anything like that.

What's the md5sum? All I see on the download page is a *.sig file that won't open as a text file.

It's all here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/mx-lin ... sting/KDE/
MD5: 3ee5b88f35d73afd2ce3d3b394dae59e

Also remember to check medium from boot menu, that's probably more important because it checks the MD5 of the linuxfs file. I'm sorry but I distrust your DVD :alien:
