MX-21 beta 1 feedback thread
Re: MX-21 beta 1 feedback thread
Hi:
I don't know if this is the right thread, it's the first time I use a USB-Live with persistence, I think it would be interesting that when you configure the persistence for the first time, in the main menu of the USB-Live an entry is created to use the normal Live mode where you choose the options (language, etc.) and another entry with the language, timezone and persistence configuration created previously, it is cumbersome to have to choose each time you start the language, timezone, persistence, etc ....
Best regards from Senpai

there is a "save" option on the advanced menu that saves all chosen boot options to the main entry.

Thanks, I didn't know that option, there is always someone who had a good idea first, hahaha ;-)dolphin_oracle wrote: Sat Aug 07, 2021 2:41 pm@Senpai

Strange behavior with Onboard keyboard when Window Decoration in Preferences is enabled. The output is from the line of keys below so if I select the letters a s d f output is z x c v. Unchecking Window Decoration fixes it.

Re: MX-21 beta 1 feedback thread
Finally got my mx21 install with the Thunar share plugin working consistently for me. The first couple mx21 install attempts I tried to install the plugin and the share options were grayed out and red text said I may not have samba installed. So, I installed samba client then got it working, but after reboot the red text would show up again and the share tab no longer worked. This time installing mx21 I installed samba client first and then installed Thunar share plugin and all was good after reboot. Don't know if the order really matters, it could be something else I did wrong.
I haven't been able to access my Windows shares yet. The "Browse Network" icon in Thunar shows two icons in the window, one is the local machine and the other says "Windows Netwrk". Clicking on the Windows Network icon causes Thunar to display a pop up error window sometimes that says the window is not responding and asks if I want to close Thunar. This has probably been reported already but thought I would mention it if it helps any.
In Thunar I also tried typing smb://hostname/share in the path field and got this window, but the credentials were not accepted and just show the window again.
Is there another way to connect to Windows samba shares?
Thanks

Re: MX-21 beta 1 feedback thread
I'veinstalled the 32-bit versionof MX-21b1 on my ancient netbook. It works(ish.) The machine's wifi is extremely slow. This may be due to using 802.11n. I'll fiddle with it later and see if I can get it working better, maybe disable n in my router. (Edit: I tried all available permutation: B only, G only, N only, B-G mixed, N-G mixed and the only one that even worked is (NGB) mixed but I only get 25Mbps. Oh well, it's a crappy old machine and not worth the money to replace the wifi card in anyway. It could also be that it doesn't play nice with my new dual-band router: the last time I used the netbook I still had my old Linksys E1200 that was 2.4GHz only. Or maybe it's the 5.10 kernel. I may try it with the antiX 4.9 kernel later, which was what I was running on it with MX-19 FB.)
I'm not experiencing the right-click issue in Firefox.
There's no timer on the grub menu, it just sits there with the first selection highlighted until I press enter.
@dolphin_oracle let me know if there are any specific things you'd like me to test.

Re: MX-21 beta 1 feedback thread
I don't know what the problem is here but what is difficult about bringing 3 or more computers into a network and sharing folders !! it's about the same if you named 3 computers server 1 = the landing server , which takes care of servers 2 and 3 to make the different local ip addresses visible on the internet. if you understand what i mean .VCR58 wrote: Sat Aug 07, 2021 5:53 pm Finally got my mx21 install with the Thunar share plugin working consistently for me.

Thanks

simple example if computer 1 , 2 and 3 have this on board https://www.plex.tv/nl/media-server-downloads/ than if you have some multi blueray player , that box wil see all your computers , and all your shares from the networks , even al your computers can share all the mediaplayers everywhere , networks share like maps wil be on every computer , that is childplay really
every digital blueray player can handle mediaplayers like pleks , so if this is on all your computers you can play it on tv twoo , even maps you share between computers wil be vissible on tv , i even stream movies with subs between my computers all over the networks to my tv at home , very easy and fast.
