For the flicker, have you tried window manager tweaks? Or even MX tweak > Compositor>xfwm settings>sync drawing to vblank checkbox>apply
I hope you have done a full update.
Hey sir, yup full upgrade before the issue. Doesnt seem to matter using trackpad or mouse. and yes I just tried vblank check box and it doesnt seem to matter.

I havent seen ANY other flicker in any graphics on this machine, other than the Desktop Settings dialog draw. And its only when I right click on the desktop and choose it.

Also, noticing that the Right click issue with firefox, I believe the issue is that when I let up on the click it is selecting one of the choices. ( and if I am off the context menu then it just closes. ) Maybe a setting some place, but I havent seen this before, and I use right click a lot.

@CharlesV your Yoga should be fine with the i915 and modesetting drivers, but sometimes there are issues.

You can try and switch the X.Org driver from modesetting to Intel under MX Tweak. We also went through a bunch of issues like this when preparing MX-19 AHS.

Its just that one dialog that does it?

You could turn off Compositing or change it... but if its just that dialog... that probably won't help.

The Firefox issue has been reported, it is tricky, its semi-isolated to certain systems. JayM opened bug reports with Debian and Firefox if I remember right.

Not sure at this point, I'm not tracking what dolphin and Adrian are working on for Samba, I'm not going to bother them, just let them do their thing.

I don't think we want to start making folder.smbak files for any share users create though, that could get messy. Also I'm not going to start doing major work on this plugin, first I don't know the ins and outs of it fully yet (just messed with it like a few days), and really that needs pushed upstream to people who won't mess it up.

I also don't see a big issue, the only location that a user can use the plugin is inside their /home. To use it else where someone has to elevate and change ownership of the directories, if their doing that we can't stop them anyway or fix issues caused by it later.

Posting this in case it catches anyone else out.

I have been unable to get sound working with my Logitech C270 web cam. (It works fine with 19.4.) I can record video, but when I replay it there is no sound. Sound works properly when playing other video or music files. The problem exists on two machines with somewhat different hardware. I have tried with Cheese but still no sound.

If I select 'Input Devices' in the mixer, the microphone sound bar responds as expected.

I fixed it by going to the Recording tab, starting a recording, and was then able to select the webcam as the record stream. (I've never had to do this in any other version of MX Linux, or with other distros.

@chrispop99 I think I have one of those specifically to test with, need to find where the heck I put it though. Just in case someone else doesn’t look into the issue.

@swampRabit " ... Also I'm not going to start doing major work on this plugin," ...

You are right, for a public smb share only, no need to do more than the necessary.

Roger that sir, I got beat up pretty hard on the Intel drivers on a different i915 machine, still avoiding it if I can :-)

I will check more, but yes it seems to be ONLY from the desktop right click on the desktop settings. I will check for more "desktop clicks"

Roger that on Firefox.

Thanks !! (And great job!)

@SwampRabbit It is definitely only on the Desktop Settings dialog, only when I click it from the desktop. When I use the Right click "Applications | Settings | Desktop Settings" method ... it looks like it is flashing the screen image of the three menus several times, like some type of video memory being flashed.

This gif kind of shows it, I clicked on the Desktop Settings menu selection and the resulting flash is it disappearing and then reappearing. it happens so fast the video only shows one or two flashes, but the eye picks up 4 or 5.

If you cannot duplicate, then I suspect it is something in my graphics, I continue to have issues with Lenovo machines. (although, I *thought* had them all worked out on 19.x ;-p )

@CharlesV please remove gtk3-nocsd, logout and login. and see if it helps your flicker. I have no idea if it will, but the gtk3-nocsd has proven to produce some odd behavior in other applications.

Its not only a public smb share tool ... its just that the MX Team can't fix every problem with every application that exists.

There is nothing really wrong with the thunar-shares-plugin that I am aware off, it does what it says it will do. The piece that is missing right now is a Samba Configuration GUI tool.

@CharlesV I can confirm this oddity occurs in a VB VM at least, and dolphin's suggestion made it go away. Can't test on hardware just yet, but I'm sure it is the fix.
