Ok if they still appear in Appearance I'll search both folders. what about themes? tweak searches ~/.themes.asqwerth wrote: Wed Aug 04, 2021 12:46 am @dolphin_oracle
In MX Tweak >> Theme tab, your icons pane does not search for icons in the $HOME/.local/share/icons folder. XFCE's Appearance tool does (because it's a pretty standard location). Plasma looks for icons in that folder rather than $HOME/.icons.
I just installed KDE Standard on the MX21 alpha VM to check it out, and Plasma could not find the icons in the $HOME/.icons folder. So I shifted them to the .local/icons folder, only for them to no longer appear in your MX Tweak >> Theme pane when I logged back into XFCE. I was able to set them by using Appearance tool.

Shifted some themes into $HOME/.local/share/themes folder. No longer appeared in MX Tweak >> Theme panes for applications and window manager. They appeared in XFCE's Appearance.dolphin_oracle wrote: Wed Aug 04, 2021 8:58 amOk if they still appear in Appearance I'll search both folders. what about themes? tweak searches ~/.themes.asqwerth wrote: Wed Aug 04, 2021 12:46 am @dolphin_oracle

In KDE Settings Manager:
1. icons only show up if in $HOME/.local/share/icons
2. gtk themes show up whether in $HOME/.local/share/themes or $HOME/.themes
not counting the icons and themes in /usr/share/.... of course.

You know, I didn't even check that, but I will today. It shouldn't change the actual folder permissions, but it should change or remove the share permissions on the folder if you uncheck those boxes.agnivo007 wrote: Wed Aug 04, 2021 3:28 am Regarding the same issue, dunno if you're aware of, removing sharing using the tab and applying doesn't change back the previous default permissions of the shared folder.
Ignore if that's how it's supposed to work for the time being.
If it doesn't, I'll have to look upstream to see if the developer is tracking it.
In regards to the other posts, my point was not that you're not providing good feedback, because you are. Please just to try and read and catch up on all the posts before replying.
I'll do my best to try and not be an overly sensitive Karen.

And if you could test and provide feedback to your request here viewtopic.php?p=646735#p646735 that'd be great to. I'm trying to address things you want

Ah, some members were concerned about my frequent reports and postings and ahem, swamprabbit's post... all's well, let's not complicate things and make up smoke clouds out of spent fag ends.
Yes, I post issues, report bugs and provide feedback as I find them, that might look too frequent to some, but it's just a fact I can't address to; yea, KDE will be more fun. Remember, MS relies on all home users for beta testing without them knowing that (even after paying for the software) and that's a lot of them; so feedback is important too and coexists with development. Glad, we have a linux ecosystem that's different.

In regards to the thunar-shares-plugin, under which directory were you creating the shares that did not change back?
Were they under your Home directory, on a secondary drive? I'm looking at this reported issue right now.

Re: MX-21 beta 1 feedback thread
@SwampRabbit I saw this last nite. when you do "everyone can use" type share, it changes the linux file system permissions to match. the permisions are not change back afterwards if you remove the share. honestly it would be better if they didn't change them in the first place, but I can see why they did. the fact that samba permisions do not equal linux file system permissions is often a point of confusion.
unless they cached the old permissions, I'm not sure how they would know what to set them back to. and I'm not sure I would in any case.
