Re: MX-21 beta 1 feedback thread
I'm not sure what you're saying. Is it the same as what I'm getting, where right-clicking on links automatically opens them in new browser windows instead of opening a context menu so you can choose how to open the link? It's extremely annoying. If I press and hold the left button I get the expected context menu.i_ri wrote: Sat Jul 31, 2021 6:25 pm hello dolphin_oracle
firefox 90.0.2-mozillabinaries-mx21+1(mx)
Right-click in firefox web page
context-menu
behavior; feels click upon release of right-click.
it is not the same right-click as in version 90.0.2-mx19+1
This brings back a vague memory: wasn't there something in either MX-18 or early MX-19 that caused a left-click action to execute whatever was at the top of the context menu rather than just displaying the menu and waiting for you to choose an item? I'm feeling a sense of deja-vu here.

Re: MX-21 beta 1 feedback thread
I found it. It was something I found back in 2019 as a bug in the version of Thunar in Xfce 4.12 that only affected Thunar and only in detailed view, and was fixed in Xfce 4.14's Thunar. This is only happening in Firefox 90-0.2. I installed Firefox ESR and tested, and right-clicks are behaving normally in ESR, which is 78.12.0esr.
I wonder, since MX is based on Debian Stable, whether it may not be better to ship MX-21 with Firefox ESR which is arguably more stable than regular Firefox?

I don't understand these reports. what left hold action? in firefox? there is no left context menu. right context menus are working ok for me, so I need a specific set of steps to see the issue. also what gtk theme is in use.JayM wrote: Sun Aug 01, 2021 10:12 pm I found it. personally I'm seeing a lot of gtk-related weirdness from the gtk3-nocsd package. I might suggest removing that package, login/logout, and see if the problem whatever they are persists.
I don't have whatever this right-click selection bug is, but I can tell you my right-click menus in firefox work differently when the gtk3-nocsd package is removed and I restart the PC.

Hello JayM
"... what I'm getting, where right-clicking on links automatically opens them in new browser windows instead of opening a context menu so you can choose how to open the link? If I press and hold the left button I get the expected context menu.", JayM .
Yes. that. JayM
firefox right-click in web page.
also a tooltip i think does not work in the webpages under those circumstances. they just flash without duration.
With unchecking of the tweakOther checkbox
Use Client Side Decorations on GTK3 ...
the right-click in firefox webpage behavior changes. (?)

@dolphin_oracle Find a link in a web page, a URL, and right-click on it. You can use the link to your YouTube channel in your signature above, or one of the links in my siggie. Normally a context menu appears with several choices: open in a new window, open in a new tab, bookmark link, etc. In FF it's automatically executing the topmost selection which is open in a new window, instead of just showing the context menu and letting you choose. At least it's doing that for me. I haven't installed the no CSD thing. It's behaving normally with the same version of FF in MX-19.4.

If you have beta, you have the noCSD package.JayM wrote: Sun Aug 01, 2021 10:54 pm @dolphin_oracle Find a link in a web page, a URL, and right-click on it. You need to uninstall the gtk3-nocsd package. NOt just uncheck the box in Tweak >> others.

Re: MX-21 beta 1 feedback thread
I uninstalled it. No change. I'll just use FF ESR as a work-around.

maybe a mouse driver issue? or is it just in firefox?
I'm sure you did, but make sure to logout/login after uninstalling the gtk3-nocsd package. I don't know if that's the issue, but the dang thing is buggy as hell.
