Preferred apps
Preferred apps
I know I have had to have over looked it, but I cannot find any place that allows me to set up my preferred apps (file manager, video, audio, etc). How do I make those changes?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Preferred apps
Thanks.
Compared to other flavors of Linux I have used yours is extremely limited. I understand the concept you are operating on, but having a page to makes those changes just seems easier and more flexible

Care to share which ones are extremely unlimited then and exactly what they are doing/use to not be limited?
Not cool to make a stab like that and not offer a solution. Maybe you can make a solution for everyone?

Re: Preferred apps
Oh and I forgot, this has significantly changed in MX-21, the tool is now called "Default Applications" and lets you select per file type the default application you'd like.
But I guess no one wants to help test the MX-21 Beta... us being extremely limited and all.

Re: Preferred apps
Okay, sorry I was not more specific. Things like the "pdf" app, media app, text app and other useful and utility apps.
I would assume this change will not be part of the "rolling release" but that I will need to install ver. 21 to get the benefit of the change.
Thanks for the reply.

Re: Preferred apps
MX is not a “rolling release”. As far as backporting the newer application to do this, we’d have to try first. I can do that but it’s gonna be a few days and no promises on if it’s even possible.Dangbert wrote: Sat Jul 31, 2021 9:04 am I would assume this change will not be part of the "rolling release" but that I will need to install ver. 21 to get the benefit of the change.

But right now, yes, you’d have to use MX-21 to get this expanded functionality.

Re: Preferred apps
Hmmm...are you clear about the differences between a distro and a particular desktop environment?
