Hey guys, I'm having a problem with the new installer using a live USB (sdb) to install MX-19.4 on a laptop hard drive (sda). When I try to do a regular install using the entire disk, I get an error message that reads "sda1 is already selected for: EFI System Partition". I tried customizing the disk layout and found that I'm able to get the installation to proceed if I format the ESP on the live USB (sdb4) from which I am installing. The only problem is that this destroys the ESP on my live USB, rendering it unbootable.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
New Installer Trouble - EFI System Partition
Re: New Installer Trouble - EFI System Partition
Hi,
Sounds similar to this issue: viewtopic.php?f=127&t=65292
It was found to be an installer bug but I don't know for certain if it has been fixed and uploaded to the Repos yet..

Re: New Installer Trouble - EFI System Partition
I have committed a fix for a similar issue, hopefully it gets built and makes its way into the repositories soon.
This should also fix the issue @mxuser67 and @AVLinux are both having.

Re: New Installer Trouble - EFI System Partition
As mentioned in the link posted above by @AVLinux you can use the workaround until the fixed version hit's the repos.mxuser67 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 13, 2021 11:51 pm Hey guys, I'm having a problem with the new installer using a live USB (sdb) to install MX-19.4 on a laptop hard drive (sda). Thanks so much, I'll give it a try.
I also want to say thank you for all your work on MX Linux. It's absolutely the best distro I've used by far.
