So, it looks ok now:

Graphics: Device-1: NVIDIA G72M [Quadro NVS 110M/GeForce Go 7300] vendor: ASUSTeK
driver: nouveau v: kernel bus ID: 01:00.0 chip ID: 10de:01d7
Display: server: X.Org 1.20.4 driver: nouveau

Then there's something else preventing boot ...

Where does it stop when you boot? Or what happens if you issue startX (after logging in manually) or pressing Ctrl+Alt+F7 ?

I have changed the list to Debian stretch and moved all lists to /home/user/repos to try to follow the method of @burrezo, but I got stuck in the middle.

I need to install proprietary drivers via console. I have extracted them, and I am on just my way to sh the installer. I change to runlevel 3, but I want to terminate all applications so I can run it

@dimi maybe that's because you have removed all xserver-xorg packages and haven't reinstalled them

Code: Select all

apt policy xserver-xorg-core xserver-xorg-video-all
