docker.io

#1 Post by aledosim »

Hello folks!
I need to use docker.io and docker-compose for a project. I would like to run they as non superuser (for the obvious reasons), but the documentation says that the rootless mode was introduced in version 19.03 and the repo version is 18.09.1, build 4c52b90 only at stable. So, is this package on the update queue? Someone tried to install it from other means?
Thanks for the great work.

Have you tried the instructions for debian ?

this is currently offering version 20.10.5 of docker-ce

Assuming you're running MX19, a buster repository is compatible.

Hello baldyeti!
Since the instructions from MX Devs are to install from mx-packageinstaller, I needed the confirmation that installing from another repository works. I'll try that.
Thanks for your reply.

The MX packaging team might be able to backport the newer version in Debian testing to the MX repos, but we'll have to look at it first.
