FortiClient VPN Broken when running on MX Linux

#1 Post by moo »

Hey MX Linux Forum,

I'm running FortiClient which I have downloaded and installed following this guide https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/it-services/vpn/linux

I run into problems, after having installed the package, I run forticlient, but the window opens up completely blank, with just the menu bar (with options file and help) visible.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Or alternatively, looking at the guide, what are other applications that would do the same job (if any?)

Many thanks,

Alex

Have you tried
  • Running the FortiClient executable in a terminal and seeing if there are any error messages that may give clues to what's (not) happening?
  • Booting MX Linux with systemd from the grub boot menu, advanced options submenu to see if that makes a difference?
  • Exploring FortiClient's own support options?
Also, please run Quick System Info and post your system information whenever asking for help as per the forum rules. Just run it then right-click paste in a reply, don't copy/paste. Instructions are here if you need them. Thanks.
Please read the Forum Rules, How To Ask For Help, How to Break Your System and Don't Break Debian. Always include your full Quick System Info (QSI) with each and every new help request.
