3D resin printing
Sirs, madam, developers
I have been trying to ditch using windows for the last fifteen years, and each year I try my hardest not to have to use it but alas I do end up reconnecting my windows drive.
My recent reason is because of two programs
1st Chitubox a slicer for resin 3d printers
2nd UVtools a tool box that can be incorporated in other well known slicers (Prusaslicer) and yes chitubox too (so I believe).
Both programs won't install on MX Linux 19+ I have spoken to developers of both programs it should until I gave them evidence it doesn't they advised trying to compile and that was a disaster for me as I have no idea how to do that (YouTube failed to teach me) are these programs something that MX development could look into? Or anyone give advice on a course of action.
Thank you in advance.

Re: 3D resin printing
Can you help us out by providing links and if you know of any distros that those two run on nicely?
Re: 3D resin printing
Chitubox offers a linux download as I can see (tar.gz, dunno if binaries are included as it requires user account login)
However, there are other opensource 3D printing software like slic3r, cura in MX package installer > Stable repo > search "3d print" if you're interested.
Also, this page has a list of many free softwares for 3d print which support linux (scroll down a bit):
https://all3dp.com/1/best-3d-slicer-sof ... d-printer/
Check if it suits your needs and if you can't install a particular solution, ask for help here.
Example : Prusa https://www.prusa3d.com/prusaslicer/
Download the linux zip from that webpage and extract it. Go to the folder and run .appimage file. https://mxlinux.org/wiki/applications/appimages/
If you need help related to particular 3d software and issues faced inside them, you have to contact support of such software.

Re: 3D resin printing
Note that using software that's been packaged for and tested with MX Linux, installed via MX Package Installer (MXPI), is recommended as opposed to downloading applications found on the Internet and installing them as those may not be fully compatible with Debian Stable-based distros. If a particular application is needed or wanted and it's not found in any of the tabs in MXPI, ask for it to be packaged for MX Linux:
To request new or updated software packages be added to the MX Repositories, please read these instructions first, then post your request in a new topic in the appropriate Package Requests/Status subforum for your version of MX: 19, 17/18 or 15/16.

I can not post link to Chitubox as mentioned it is login only when downloading and I'm not sure if they will appreciate me doing that, I have yet to hear from any persons involved in Chitubox it has been awhile.

In other topic:
I posted a lot of info in my earlier post and OP didn't give a reaction. On top of that, I see that he has mentioned himself having a learning disorder (so my informative post is kinda useless to him). Hence, I leave it here.Spanker-General wrote: Mon Mar 22, 2021 6:54 am I'm using Mxlinux 19.8 it will not compile for me but I am very inexperienced in these matters (I do have a learning disability). I make no excuses for not understanding request postings.

Thank you to everyone who has give advice etc..
Re: 3D resin printing
I will attempt to backport cura 4.8 from Debian testing to MX 19. If that fails, it will be available in MX 21 in a few months.
Chitubox seems to be freeware, but not open source. Plus the need to register to download their binaries is a drag.
I found a script that would download it and set it up for Ubuntu 18.04 after you register for downloads, though: https://github.com/edalongeville/Chitub ... all_script
