Currently we can write Bengali with some of the fixed layouts like provat, unijoy through installing a package called 'ibus m17n' available in synaptic package manager. But most popular fixed layout is 'bijoy 52' which is actually closed source. But its creator had permitted it to be used for free in linux systems. We normally used to install/configure it through many terminal commands which is sometimes hard for beginners. As the *.mim file is provided there i expect a single debian package would be very easy and helpful to install it. Right now we can write phonetic bangla through installing "ibus-avro" debian package available in 'mx unstable repo' in software package installer. We want similar way to install Bijoy[i:e ibus-bijoy], so that we can choose that layout in ibus as shown in the picture below.

Re: Package request : Bijoy Bangla
Can be of good use as Bijoy layout is mainstream and most accepted in the industry.

Re: Package request : Bijoy Bangla
Everything I can find about Bijoy 52 says that it's not only copyrighted but patented and a licence must be purchased prior to installing and using it.

Nothing about that Google Drive link indicates that it was put there by Mr. Jabbar the owner, and nothing I can find indicates that he's offering free use of his software by Linux users. I would hate to see MX Linux get into legal trouble for making unlicensed or pirated commercial software available for installation from its repos. On the other hand, Avro is free/open source, is 100% Unicode-compliant, and version 1.1 from 2019 is available in the test repo already as ibus-avro. You might ask for it to be updated to version 1.2 from 2020 which is a maintenance release: https://github.com/sarim/ibus-avro/releases and there are Bullseye and Sid packages already that may be able to be backported to Buster/MX-19.3: https://linux.omicronlab.com/

I see, a thought like that came but didn't investigate...
