Re: MXFBPi Beta 2 testing

#6 Post by Senpai »

Hi:
I don't know if this thread is the right one to ask as I have the final version "MXFBPi_21.02.20.img.xz" but the thread for that final version is locked viewtopic.php?f=127&t=63264.
In the final version I have problems changing the language to Spanish, if I do it from "Rpi Config" it tells me that everything is changed but most of the things do not appear in Spanish.
I have also tried to change the language from "MX-System Locales" and it gives similar errors...
From console, MX-update or System Locales I get these errors:

WHEN I HIT UPDATE FROM THE MX-UPDATE ICON:

OK, now back. I will need to look carefully at this because 1) this is not an area where I am particularly knowledgeable, and 2) the RPi project is brand new, and development so far has been directed simply toward making sure things worked. The only localization problem I knew about was the rootMenu (right-click on the Desktop) because we changed some of the menu entries so temporarily commented out the localization function for that.

Normally you can reset defaults by running this, but maybe that doesn't work on RPi.

Code: Select all

 dpkg-reconfigure locales
A few details about what you are seeing would be helpful:

--did you log out and back in? Reboot?
--what is showing in Spanish?
--are the MX Tools in Spanish?
--what apps are not showing in Spanish?

Thanks.

A few details about what you are seeing would be helpful:
--did you log out and back in? Reboot?
Yes.
--what is showing in Spanish?
--are the MX Tools in Spanish?
--what apps are not showing in Spanish?
I detail the errors I have seen:
Every time you run a terminal or a program calls a terminal it shows this error in the terminal (bash: warning: setlocale: LC_ALL: cannot change locale (es_ES.UTF-8)

In the start menu "Application Finder" all the names of the entries are in English, but the programs are in Spanish (Bluetooth Devices, FeatherPad, iDevice-Mounter, Gpdfview, Qt Settings, Window Effects), the rest of the ones that appear in that menu are in English.

In the right-click menu on the desktop also all entries are in English.
Right click->All Apps, it doesn't work, it doesn't run anything.
Right click->Appearance->Dock "Dockmaker" in Spanish, the rest in English.
Right click->Settings-> Piconfig, Grsync, About, they come out in English, and the rest of the entries as well.
In MX-tool, the programs (Job Scheduler, Add Remove Software), come out in English the name and when executed.
The rest of the MX-Tool programs show the name in Spanish and the program is executed in Spanish.
In MX-tool, Brill Systray, MX-tweak do not open well and give this error when trying to run, (version:/bin/bash: warning: setlocale: LC_ALL: cannot change locale (es_ES.UTF-8) 21.02.02).
In "Quick System Information" the name comes out in Spanish but when executing it an error comes out when calling the console, similar to the ones I put in the previous post...

I tested this before applying the command "dpkg-reconfigure".

Code: Select all

 dpkg-reconfigure locales
Once the command is executed, most of the programs come out in Spanish or almost all in Spanish, depending on the state of the translation, but it happened that when I tried "System Locales" of MX-Tool, the configuration that I had achieved with "dpkg-reconfigure locales" has been deleted and the errors that I detailed above come out again... if I run the command "dpkg-reconfigure locales" again, all the Spanish language is unchecked.

So far what I have tried, I hope it helps.

Greetings from Senpai

Thanks very much. I saw that same LC_ALL error, I suspect there is something not working on the RPi with the MX Tool "System locales."

Eventually trashed the image and re-started with the backup.
