You can talk about other distros here, but no MX bashing. You can email the developers of MX if you just want to say you dislike or hate MX.

Yes, but you cannot really use the name just by adding an "inc" at the end, do you think I could use "microsoftinc.com"?
well, you sort of can, particularly with domain names.
but I digress, I looked him up once and I think he as mepis, llc, morgantown, wv IIRC. its not listed anymore. but he moved to some sort of other business...
MX is a respin of antiX. It was based on antiX. The antiX devs (anticapitalista mostly) took over the role Waren had played in Mepis. IMO the name "Mepix", or even "MepiX", would downplay the importance of antiX to the development of MX just like MantiX or mantiX would downplay the importance of the Mepis community to MX.

I like MX. Stands out in a list full of things ending in OS (which I hate), and foreign words that have been transcribed to English and then it's my fault when I pronounce them wrong. There's not enough simple names like Fedora, Mandrake, or Void, in Linux, compared to other tech brand names like Amazon, Apple, Hitachi, Intel, Microsoft, Samsung, Sanyo, etc. But what I like most is a good pronounced acronym. While some are luckier (GEICO, Smart), others put some thought into making it work (Adidas, Captcha, TARDIS, TASER).
Fun-fact: The USA Patriot Act is an acronym.

That's a bit like when you name your kid George and good willing people come and tell you: "but have you considered Paul? What about Paul, it's a nice name, right?"
