Re: HP Deskjet All-in-One Ink Advantage Colour Printer Compatibility
I also use Simple Scan but on Linux. On a mobile device there is not much option. Had to use HP's Smart App for all that and it was awful, to just take a trial print / scan also you need to provide them your mobile number. Why ??? And seems they direct all printing docs through their servers. That means all my personal documents will be travelling out of my room. So Wifi option for a printer, as of now, does not seems too attractive to me. I will soon try out HPLIP's 3.20 version from computer (3.15 worked for printing but not for scanning) and then will be able to comment about that printer.Eadwine Rose wrote: Sat Dec 19, 2020 9:44 am You DID install the HP Printing package in MX Package Installer I wager? Just checking.
I use Simple Scan to scan pages.
Can't remember the rest. I don't care about giving someone my cell phone number or registering my printer that way, so that never registered in my brain how that went.
Re: HP Deskjet All-in-One Ink Advantage Colour Printer Compatibility
It is downloadable from HP's site. But will always prefer if I get it from the repo.Huckleberry Finn wrote: Sat Dec 19, 2020 10:23 am ... Re: HP Deskjet All-in-One Ink Advantage Colour Printer Compatibility
Guys unfortunately HP Deskjet 2778 Ink Advantage Wireless Printer is not working well.
Some how it is able to give prints (though hplip creates a lot of trouble) but not able to scan. Says no scanner attached.
hp-doctor even said this printer (2700 series) is not supported. But on HP's website it is mentioned that HPLIP supports that series.
Right now my main problem is to get the scanner working. I have tried this printer till now on Lubuntu as I do not wish to 'dirty' my Mx Linux.
Is it possible for any one to help me with this problem ?

Re: HP Deskjet All-in-One Ink Advantage Colour Printer Compatibility
have you tried installing the plugin?
if not type in the terminal hp-plugin and let's see maybe that is what is missing
Another thing that you can try is to check that the line "hpaio" appears in /etc/sane.d/dll.conf and is not commented out (i.e., no "#" before "hpaio" on the line)

Re: HP Deskjet All-in-One Ink Advantage Colour Printer Compatibility
With regard to getting the scanner working, if the printer supports AirPrint, you could try installing the package sane-airscan which available from the repository. This supports "driverless" scanning on modern network scanners.
Re: HP Deskjet All-in-One Ink Advantage Colour Printer Compatibility
hp-plugin : It tried looking for plugin and then looked for the KEY. Said could not download the KEY. I asked it to proceed without it. Then it asked for root password. After entering that it gave an error :Amigo wrote: Tue Dec 22, 2020 9:38 am have you tried installing the plugin?

error : Python gobject/dbus may be not installed
error : Plug-in install failed
I tried installing what ever I could find relevant but nothing worked.
/etc/sane.d/dll.conf hpaio is NOT commented

How can I make out if it supports AirPrint ?David P wrote: Tue Dec 22, 2020 10:05 am With regard to getting the scanner working, if the printer supports AirPrint, you could try installing the package sane-airscan which available from the repository. Do not find it mentioned anywhere.
Re: HP Deskjet All-in-One Ink Advantage Colour Printer Compatibility
Looking info about the hplip error. i found that it's seems to be related to phython
https://bugs.launchpad.net/hplip/+bug/1813768
"It appears that HPLIP needs Python 3, but Ubuntu defaults to the deprecated Python 2" <------ NOTE: Ubuntu
https://answers.launchpad.net/hplip/+question/691141
In the post# 7 someone is posting a solution (update "the symbolic link" of python inside /usr/bin/) <------ NOTE: Ubuntu
Maybe you can try it in lubuntu and see if that fixes it (if that work in lubuntu then i guess is easier to apply the equivalent method in MX linux).

Re: HP Deskjet All-in-One Ink Advantage Colour Printer Compatibility
See here for the printer specification:
https://store.hp.com/in-en/default/hp-d ... fr21b.html
Under the specificatons tab, the section PRINTER SPECIFICATIONS, it says:
Print languages HP PCL 3 GUI; HP PCLm (HP Apps/UPD); URF (AirPrint).
So it looks as though the printer does support AirPrint.
You will find the application sane-airscan under the Debian Backports tab in the MX package installer.
