However, if you give us your general location --> Country, but a city close to but not your own, we can recommend the best options from what is readily available. Also we may have other members in your area who can tell you exactly what printer to use.
My location changes a bit frequently. Right now I am stuck in some place where I am not supposed to be at this time . . . covid-19.
But in any case I will always buy it online. Especially I prefer Amazon because of their product reliability and service.
Brick & Mortar shops . . . no way.
As I move around so much, my requirements are very different, especially about printer.
I need low price, low print cost, Multi-function and works well with Linux, if possible out-of-the-box, because I usually do not install anything that is not in the official repo.

From what ever I have checked,
HP DeskJet 2335 All-in-One Ink Advantage Colour Printer OR
HP DeskJet 2778 All-in-One Ink Advantage Wireless Colour Printer
come closest to my requirement.

I just wish to know if they work well with Linux. What is mentioned on the HP site is a bit confusing.
In fact if wifi does not has any especial advantage, I might just go for 2335.

Any technical reason for that ?
Is it unsafe ?

I just find that it works better via USB cable and is more secure.
I am command line illiterate. I copy & paste to the terminal. Liars, Wiseguys, Trolls, and those without manners will be added to my ignore list.

One of the main disadvantages to wireless printing has to do with the capabilities of your wireless modem/router. If your unit will allow you to assign your printer a static IP address, it's pretty much flawless. However, if your modem/router limits you to DHCP, every time the power goes out you will have to set up your printer's wireless connection again. In areas with unreliable electricity supplies that can get really aggravating in a quick hurry. A usb connection generally works first time and every time (of course barring faulty cables or usb ports).
HP 15; ryzen 3 5300U APU; 500 Gb SSD; 8GB ram
HP 17; ryzen 3 3200; 500 GB SSD; 12 GB ram
Idea Center 3; 12 gen i5; 256 GB ssd;

In Linux, newer isn't always better. The best solution is the one that works.

I can think of two advantages to having a networked printer, whether wireless or Ethernet. One is a shared printer for multiple users, two is the ability to locate the printer elsewhere in the room than on the computer desk. The disadvantage is it's more difficult to set up. You have to configure the printer with a static IP address then configure CUPS in MX Linux to send print jobs to that IP address using the printer's driver which you have to find and select in the list, vs. just plugging in a USB cable and CUPS detecting your printer for you, plug-n-play style. (Unless the printer is made such that it's discoverable on the network, in which case it wouldn't be any more difficult to set up on a computer than a locally-attached printer.)

I do not know if I am deviating from the topic.
But feel interested in knowing. If wifi has that kind of restriction then say a non wifi printer, can it print using some HP app directly through USB cable ?

On my Brother multifunction printer that is wireless networked, my whole household is able to use it on their respective Linux or Mac computers, as well as Android or iphone devices. At least on Android, a phone app is downloadable that can print pdf/jpg/webmail direct from the phone to the printer. Scanning of docs can also be initiated from the phone, and the resulting pdf scan is saved on the phone.

As JayM has said, the ability for many devices to use the machine via network is a great advantage. It's not helpful for me to connect the printer to the network via USB connection to the "main" PC is because I multiboot and often reboot into another distro on the same machine. By having the printer connected wirelessly, the printer can be used without interruption by others without worry as to whether I'm rebooting or whatever on the main PC.

Tried 2778 with HPLIP 3.16.3
It did recognise the printer but said it did not have its driver.
Used built in driver for 2600 series and it did print through it.
Will install HPLIP 3.20.X and try again later.

What I wish to mention is HP's mobile app (HP Smart) for printing from mobile devices.
I tried it from a tab. Felt its an awful piece of software.
It does not even lets one print a basic page full of only text.
Asks users to register first (WITH THEIR MOBILE NUMBER).

Then used HP's print driver to print a test page, through pdf reader.
And finally had to use a third party app to test scanning from it.
If the way it tried to print (moving my page through some unknown servers) is how it works, then I will never like to print using wifi.
USB wire method is much safer.

You DID install the HP Printing package in MX Package Installer I wager? Just checking.

I use Simple Scan to scan pages.

Can't remember the rest. I don't care about giving someone my cell phone number or registering my printer that way, so that never registered in my brain how that went.
