Re: Screen keeps going blank (off) until I start typing
Hi,
I tried a USB booted MX Linux and this issue did not happen which means its not a hardware issue but is a software issue.
Are there any suggestions as I out of ideas. Would be grateful to have this fixed.
Thank you.

I do not remember playing with any settings. The only thing I have done in the lat 6 weeks or so was stop using the multi desktops feature.

I managed to upgrade Debian but do not see the option to upgrade MX Linux in the Popular Apps Tab. Is there another way to do this?
Thank you.
Re: Screen keeps going blank (off) until I start typing
If you mean the kernel (with upgrade) just tick that MX 4.19 and it'll install the latest 4.19 for the time being, with 1 click (that's ..0-10).
You can also create a new user from Menu => MX Tools => MX User Manager, and login with that..
(If no issues there, too, then it's related to some settings within current user's home folder ..)

Hi,
I managed to upgrade to the latest Debian and latest KDE and that fixed the issue thankfully but cannot see the MX19 option: I have attached the picture. After reboot a bigger issue happened: I get a blank screen instantly and not login screen unless I boot in to the SystemMD.
What can I change to stop this happening

Re: Screen keeps going blank (off) until I start typing
Same problem here. For me it was exactly one minute. Even disabling through the GUI, it continued.
Also running XFCE 64bit.
I found that typing the time interval had no effect unless after I set it in screensaver, then clicked the + and then - to put it back where it was, then the timer worked.
Previously if I was watching a video, the screensaver never activated. Now it activates as long as there is no keyboard/mouse activity.
If a video is playing now, the screen still goes off at the set time in screensaver.
I've made changes this week:
1: Changed to 1 workspace
2: Installed KDENLive.
3: Uninstalled TLP. I'm on a desktop and I kept getting battery low notifications.
4: Uninstalled Fluxbox. I believe this is in common with the OP by his statement of not using multi desktops
Ref OP post: viewtopic.php?p=596678#p596678.
Edit: I uninstalled XFCE screensaver and it works normal. Screen off by power setting timer and screen stays on if watching videos.
Difference is now that the monitor powers off shortly thinking the computer was turned off. But that is minor.

Re: Screen keeps going blank (off) until I start typing
Hi All,
I finally managed to fix this by re-installing MX Linux (with the latest version). Not only did this fix the issue, but the new version is so much better!
Thank you all for your help.

Re: Screen keeps going blank (off) until I start typing
Just to let you folks know, I had run across this topic when I searched the forum, because I was having the same problem. I knew it started happening while installing and uninstalling different packages. At first, I thought it was only happening while I had the MX Package Installer running, but then it started happening after a restart. I saw that Clampett had mentioned he had recently installed Kdenlive. That struck a chord with me, because I had installed Kdenlive immediately before this started happening. I uninstalled Kdenlive yesterday, and so far it's not happening anymore. My screen was going blank after 1 minute, even while playing fullscreen video. I am actually using the old xscreensaver package, with the time set for 5 minutes. The XFCE screensaver is still installed, but is turned off. I've been using a script at startup to prevent the xscreensaver from coming on when a fullscreen application is running. It's worked perfect for weeks that way, until I installed Kdenlive. Since I uninstalled it, it's working perfect again. We'll see.
