The gentleman who kindly posted this on our Facebook page initially struggled to find his way around, but in now full of praise:
Well, the date on the desktop tells me that it's been six months since I installed MX_Linux on this PC as my daily driver, and I don't regret a single day of it! I installed the 19.2 version originally, which is now 19.3. I opted for XFCE, as I had my doubts about using KDE on this old machine.
From day one I was impressed with the ease of installation, and the comprehensive levels of support in the form of the excellent manual, the website, the forum, and, of course, this Facebook group (not to mention some great You Tube videos, which are all worth checking out). All of that helps no end, and makes you feel that you've got real, solid backup behind you, and a wealth of resources to turn to should things go wrong. I've watched the posts in this group, and it's great to see how the mods go out of their way to help people with their problems. I can't thank them enough for that.
Similarly, I can't thank the devs enough for all of their superb work in creating such a rock-solid, and truly dependable distro.
I had to keep using Windoze 7 past its end of support date in January of this year because other family members also used this machine, but when I became the sole user I was happy to see the back of Microsoft's product. It was showing its age, and the continual hangs (and other issues) were a huge pain in the butt.
So I switched to MX_Linux, and from the first time I saw it in Live View, my jaw dropped with how wonderful it looked straight out of the box. It really made the competition look like their offerings were unpolished works-in-progress by comparison.
If anybody asks me what MX_Linux gives me that Windoze did not, I usually answer with two words: "It works." It's just a total pleasure to use, and whatever I want to do, be it working from home, or catching up with friends via Social Media, or whatever else I might ask of it, then MX gets it done, with no fuss, and no problems. I can't keep the smile off my face, and it's there every time I sit at the computer. I really cannot believe there's a distro that is this good.
In total contrast to Windoze, I feel that MX_Linux has given me back control of my computer, and it has provided a welcome new lease of life to this old machine as it functions better now than it ever did before.
Suffice it to say, in case I haven't made the point: color me very happy indeed!
Chris

Now that's a testimonial!
That FB group is working pretty well these days. There's a whole bunch of knowledgeable people who can answer questions--and your level of support continued to be terrific.

It's good to see there are some knowledgeable guys there - and some not so much!
I'm hoping in time it will become more self-sustaining, and it's looking that way at the moment.
Thank you for your kind comment.

That's great, I also have hopes for our subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/MXLinux/
We already have 4,452 readers, hope it will become self-sufficient at some point, it still needs baby sitting for now.

I typically go to the reddit once in awhile to see if anything is being posted. Forum has been the bread and butter though. Glad you got some other places to workout though as well.Adrian wrote: Tue Dec 01, 2020 3:04 pm That's great, I also have hopes for our subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/MXLinux/
