Essentially equivalent. With Mepis, I had to make very few tweaks and config changes to get the OS to my liking, and the same held true for MX KDE. Once I made those changes it was like putting on a comfortable pair of old slippers.entropyfoe wrote: Tue Oct 20, 2020 10:36 amBut, how would you say the new shiny KDE MX compares to the polish that Warren used to put onto his KDE releases?

I'll add my praise of KDE, too. I purchased a new PC recently, and I wanted to try KDE on it. I've used Xfce for many years, but transitioning to KDE was quite easy. I really like the ability to customize the windows and just about everything else. All the little annoyances I've put up with in Xfce are gone.

Love the way MX KDE plays on my old Thinkpad T450, works great
Re: Just want to say I love MX KDE!
Well, I came back to MX Linux due to KDE spin. I didn't really adapt do XFCE. I find it too minimal; I like KDE look and feel and easy manageability. It is a really mature OS. When Debian bullseye gets release and MX Linux is updated to it, MX Linux KDE will shine even more.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Re: Just want to say I love MX KDE!
Like the user in previous post, I would like to thank the devs and everyone else for MX KDE. Had been using MX default ( XFCE) and then had installed KDE plasma on top of that. Was mostly satisfied, barring a few aesthetic glitches. Now everything works wonderfully. Even the new 5.8 Kernel works smoothly on my 6 yr old computer.
Re: Just want to say I love MX KDE!
I have to add to this, I have been very happy with the KDE version of MXLinux. The problems I have had, have been addressed and fixed quickly. Community has been great and it just works, no constant bombardments of updates. Thank you MX devs, keep up the good work.

Re: Just want to say I love MX KDE!
I'm another old Mepis user, happy to see a new KDE version! It's fun to see the names from the past. Thanks for keeping it going!
It's working great on a Dell chromebook with upgraded ssd.
I'll be trying it out on other rigs soon.

MX's rendition of KDE is one of the nicest, most stable and feature filled.
Can't wait for it to upgrade to latest Plasma!

I'll echo this. I find it the smoothest, stablest, most hardware-compatible distro. And I have tried a lot. I was never a great fan of XFCE but KDE + MX is perfect on my old T420 and T450S. Thanks and kudos to the developers.

Likely to update to the version in Bullseye after that is released which I believe is Plasma 5.20.4.danielson wrote: Mon Jan 18, 2021 9:21 am MX's rendition of KDE is one of the nicest, most stable and feature filled.
