Change system languange is a weird confusing thing on MX.
Tweak compositor to compton because the flickery browser and panel but doesn't fix the thing completely.
For fonts need to install something.
The update from 19.2 to 19.3 was also difficult. No opening, later open and working.
A year for the next version upgrade.
budgie desktop environment doesn't work with other monitor.
Second day: nov 16, 2020
when you suspend and then power up again, provide the password, enter and then no system, only the pointer without menu, wallpaper, apps, nothing else.
The good: is a fast system by the xfce de?
Perhaps is too new (since 2014) and needs more developers and refinements to be better than previous usage. Time will tell.

Re: at first, the bad and the ugly of MX
Not sure, what the reason might have been for a "new MX user" to opt for installing first 19.2 and then get the experience of the upgrade with all the huge amount of packages needed to be installed. The recommendation was given to install straight the 19.3 version instead. OK, if the reason was to make such an experience - fine, but nothing to complain about. MX can be changed to your liking including the panel. Ask detailed questions - Stop complaining - start changing.

What do you expect from a distro based on Debian Stable? If you want the very latest beeding-edge versions of apps use a rolling-release distro. From Don't Break Debian (linked in my signature):rsotol028 wrote: Sun Nov 15, 2020 8:59 pm The bad and the ugly:

The reason that Debian Stable is so reliable is because software is extensively tested and bug-fixed before being included. This means that the most recent version of software is often not available in the Stable repositories. But it doesn't mean that the software is too old to be useful!
Before attempting to install the newest version of some software from somewhere other than the Debian Stable repositories, here are some things to keep in mind:
Debian backports security fixes and reliability fixes. Judging software by comparing the version number of the Debian package to the upstream version number does not take this into account.
Installing software from places other than official Debian repositories are not covered by Debian' Security team.
Please note: bugs are found in existing software but only new releases of a software can introduce new bugs and vulnerabilities.
As a release enters Debian and receives bugfixes, the number of unknown vulnerabilities and bugs will constantly decrease during the package lifetime.
If you'd spent more time learning the distro including reading the manual, searching the FAQ, forum and wiki, and just using it and figuring out how things work, and less time complaining you'd be better off. It sounds like 90% of your issues with MX Linux are just because you're not used to it yet and haven't spent the time to learn it. It took me several weeks before I knew where everything was and how to adjust settings and things.Change system languange is a weird confusing thing on MX.

Every distro is different, and every distro's development team does things differently and has a different philosophy. For example, in Ubuntu-based distros, rather than maintaining and updating their own repositories they tell you to add individual PPAs for various apps to get the newer versions. In Debian Stable-based distros they encourage people to only install from the distro's repos to maintain system stability. In rolling-release distros you automatically get upgraded to the latest versions of everything whether they're buggy or not, and stability isn't an important factor.
BTW if you'd read the migration info that's linked near the top of each and every forum page you'd learn that migration from MX 19.2 to 19.3 happens automatically via the normal updates and you don't need to do anything except install the updates.

Perhaps you should post your Quick System info on this thread first. Search the application menu for this tool.

Perhaps if you posted your Quick System Info (see the link in my signature for instructions) we could have a better idea of why all these things aren't working on your computer that are working just fine for everyone else and offer constructive advise on how to fix them?

Re: at first, the bad and the ugly of MX
You should post each separate issue in a different thread. Since you're using budgie and not KDE or xfce, please post issues in MX MODIFIED subforum.
