This time I was able to create a fully live USB system instead of read-only via dd in Maker. Tested first on a Core2 Duo and then brought to the laptop where Flux went up in just a minute and a half. Was impressed with how fast Firefox 81 launched. After adding SMPlayer this stick will be the perfect system for the laptop.
I've done a lot of testing before release on a Pentium M, and it is surprisingly good. I too add SMPlayer, plus DeadBeef for music, and Slimjet for browsing. I found it quite good fun trying to get the best out of such an old machine.

Nice!. You just reminded me of 3 small old machines I had lying around that I had forgotten about. Crazy that I built the ISO but totally forgot about the netbook and the 2 tablets, probably because the tablets were so troublesome. Gonna dig them out and try them now. Thanks for reminding me

Will updated snapshots and new releases come out for this in the future? In line with MX releases... like to know.
Want to make this my daily driver for thin-PC and make a custom iso for future use.

Also, any revisions will ever be done (like further slimming, etc. changes) on the iso?

With MX 19.3 around the corner, I hope update of the Base edition would follow too (take your time)? I know online upgrade is possible, but a lot of packages involved for those who start fresh.

I'm keeping tabs on it all, hoping to update the base ISO's and test them on some hardware I have hanging around before releasing them. I'll be testing on 2 Intel Celeron based Intel NUC machines, 2 Hybrid Tablet/Netbooks, an Asus Transformer T100T and a very troublesome Lenovo MIIX 310, and a Samsung NC210 Netbook.

Hi,

Just wanted to say I used the 32bit minimal version of this last week to reload an old machine I had unsuccessfully tried to crossgrade from pure Debian to MX, just could not get Snapshot to fully work...*shrugs . It was great to just have the essentials and not have to spend an hour uninstalling stuff. I ran into a couple of issues that I have encountered in all XFCE variants of MX: viewtopic.php?f=97&t=59372

Otherwise these are a great option to have available, thanks so much for all of the hard work that went into them!!

Good to know that base edition will be actively developed and revised... many thanks for the time and effort you're putting into it and checking on diverse targeted hardware.

I wonder if MX admins are considering making the BASE edition an official flavour... cause there is a significant userbase.

Hi m_pav:
I know it is a lot to ask, but both for underpowered machines and for users to try other desktop environments in MX and give suggestions and help to MX developers to move MX forward in its development with other environments,
It would be great to have a 64-bit and 32-bit ISO of MX, only with Fluxbox, but without Xfce, with some basic programs as it has now but without dependencies on any desktop environment and made from the base of MX.
It sure comes out better than my Fluxbox-only Respin attempt without Xfce which you can see here viewtopic.php?f=127&t=62431, my Respin works perfectly but has some problems with keyboard language choice and UI language when creating a Respin with MX-Snapshop from another language installation, you can see the problem here viewtopic.php?f=127&t=64116.

Best regards from Senpai
